Richie Rich Scooby-Doo Show Vol. 1 DVD cover

The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show, Vol. One

by Suzanne 7/20/08

When I was growing up, I watched "Scooby Doo" on TV, and I read "Richie Rich" comic books. I really don't know why anyone thought it would be a good idea to combine them into one show. Half of the show was about Scooby Doo and some of his pals (not the whole gang), and half was about Richie.  It was not nearly as good as the earlier Scooby-Doo shows, and it has Scooby's annoying sidekick, Scrappy.

If you are a die-hard Scooby-Doo fan, you will probably enjoy this disk set anyway.  Kids should love it.  It is great clean fun, like all of the Hanna Barbera cartoons.

It is not something an adult or teen should watch if they are not big fans of the shows already...they will probably find it pretty mindless and stupid.  Each to his or her own, I always say!

The set is "Volume One", so it only has seven episodes.  The show only aired in 1980, so it was not a big hit. I don't know why they are splitting it up into multiple volumes instead of putting it all in one disk set. The disks also has a great interview special called "The Story of Richie Rich" which is really what makes this whole set worth it.
