Primeval: Volume Three

Primeval: Volume Three

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 1/25/12

This is a great show. I have never seen it before, so I'm going to have to go back and buy the other seasons.

At first I was confused because the title says Volume 3, but it's really seasons 4 and 5.  Sadly, this seems to be the end of the show. That's too bad, because it's really good.

I don't know why, but the British seem to do quality TV, especially scifi TV, much better than we do.  This series is about a team of experts that work at a place called ARC. Rips in time and space, which they call anomalies, appear sometimes, and they are gateways to the past (mostly to the dinosaurs era).  They have to close the anomalies and take care of any dinosaurs that pop through.

As the 4th season begins, two of the team have been stuck in the past for a year, but they finally get back to the present.  The whole ARC has been revamped and is run by different people.  A lot of the story is about the relationships and intrigue between the characters.  However, the story has tons of action. It really keeps your attention going with all the chasing and fighting.

Anyone should love this show, and you don't need to have seen the first 3 seasons to know what's going on.

There is a series of webisodes that take place before this season. Also, there is a great behind-the-scenes feature about the show that is worth watching.

Monster hit Primeval roars back onto the screens for an extended third series. Still reeling from Stephen's death and with the depth of Helen's betrayal now revealed, Nick Cutter must fight to re-focus his embattled team. Cutter's crew are joined by some new recruits in the form of maverick policeman Danny Quinn, sparky Egyptologist Sarah Page, and the new leader of the ARC's security forces Captain Becker. But as the anomalies continue to present an unrelenting series of threats, the task in hand seems almost insurmountable. It's not just deadly creatures the team has to contend with, they also face a threat to the future of not just the ARC but of mankind itself. Prepare for more explosive action as Primeval bares its newly sharpened teeth.
