Margaret: the Rebel Princess

  Margaret: the Rebel Princess

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 4/105/19

I'm American, and I was born in the 1960s, so I had no idea who Princess Margaret was. Of course, I knew about her sister, the queen, and the queen's children, but not much else. Honestly, I never understood why anyone, particularly in this country, would care about the British royals.

However, the queen and her late sister are now historical figures, so that makes them more interesting, I suppose.

Princess Margaret led a fascinating life, much like a movie star. She was not famous by choice, but she certainly had fun being a celebrity before she settled down and got married. Then she had romance, love and tragedy before her eventual death. It's a very interesting story, accentuated with many film clips and interviews with people who knew her.

Anyone who likes history or the royal family should enjoy this DVD. It would make a great gift to your favorite anglophile. Unfortunately, there are no features or extras on this DVD.

MARGARET: THE REBEL PRINCESS

MARGARET: THE REBEL PRINCESS focuses on Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth’s beautiful and rebellious younger sister. This program features rare footage and interviews with those who knew her best and offers unparalleled insight into Margaret’s turbulent life and times. Her unique position as the Queen’s younger sister in a changing Britain left her free to experiment and push boundaries, yet she was forever judged by the public and press beginning to question the very idea of a monarchy. While Margaret often followed the rigid rules under which she was raised, she also stepped outside those rules and into scandal.
