I've loved this show since the first episode, so I'm very glad
to get the DVD set! Although the show is based on a comic book (one I never
read, I might add), they changed a lot, but that's fine. It is a great show with
tons of action, fun, and some romance. It has awesome music and special effects.
They really work hard at making this a great adventure, like a movie. The
theme song is excellent, too, unlike so many today.
Mark Valley stars as Christopher Chance, who is hired by various
people to protect them. He is a combination detective, superhero, and bodyguard.
The show reminds me of a lot of the shows I loved growing up, like "Wild Wild
West" or "Have Gun Will Travel". Chance is the strong silent type like Clint
Eastwood or Robert Conrad.
I first saw Mark Valley (Chance) when he was on "Days of Our
Lives", and he has really grown as an actor since then. Even back then, he
had a wit and charm that shone through (as well as being very handsome, of
course). He has been in many series since then, and he always does well. This is
a great role for him because he is very good at being a hero. He can play
all of the levels, all of the facets needed. He's paired with the great
Jackie Earle Haley (who was fabulous in "Watchmen" and is truly scary here, as
well as very funny) and veteran character actor Chi McBride. They make a great
The DVD set is a really nice one, too. It has some fun
extras. One talks about how they created the show from the comic. Another
one goes through all the things they did to make the show, from casting to music
to special effects. There are also unaired scenes, and a commentary on the
pilot from the actors. It is a really good set to have.
Your favorite action/adventure fan should love this!
