Gunsmoke: The Complete Seventeenth Season DVD cover

  Gunsmoke: The Complete Seventeenth Season

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 12/5/19

In this season of the long-running western, the ratings went up higher than they had since season 8. No wonder it ran another 3 years, to become the longest-running western on TV.

This is as good of a season as any of the others and well worth owning, especially if you're a fan of old westerns. It's great that CBS is finally releasing the rest of the series on DVD.

There aren't a lot of features, but they have two authors of books about "Gunsmoke," Ben and Beckey, discussing the show, and this season. They share interesting bits of trivia.
