  Gotham: The Complete Fourth Season

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 8/19/18

“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

I love this show, and I'm sad that there's probably only one, shortened, season left. I think they always do a great job. They probably lost some fans because so many of the characters die and then come back to life. It makes it hard to root for the show when it's so extremely dark and unrealistic. Unfortunately, that's always been true of the Batman comics, and also other comics. Why else would the Joker and the other villains keep coming back if they don't either break out of jail or come back to life?

I enjoyed this season a lot, but I felt they sort of rushed Bruce's evolution into being a caped crusader. I would have liked to have seen more development of his character. Otherwise, I think they've done a great job of investigating all of the background of all of the major Batman characters and villains. I'm glad they finally made Gordon into the great cop that we know he'll become.

The show has always been a little uneven because the villains are often more interesting than the heroes. It's well worth watching, though. It's a shame that they never did a crossover with any of the superheroes from the CW. I can't wait for season 5 of "Gotham".

The DVD has some great features as usual. I have all of these on DVD and love them with a passion.
