Star Trek: Enterprise: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 2/10/17

It's great to have this series on Blu-Ray! I have most of it already on VHS and regular DVD. I loved Scott Bakula already, from "Quantum Leap," and of course I've been a huge Trekkie since I was a kid.  Some fans had trouble with this series because it took place prior to the original Star Trek series, and there were many things that fans could nitpick about the history of the series. Also, the theme song is terrible. Instead of the beautiful orchestral themes they usually have, it has some guy singing, with a guitar, and it sounds very 1970's. I don't know who they thought they were appealing to!

But the show itself is very good and worth watching. Like "Star Trek: Voyager" before, it was a bit uneven, but it got better. I really loved the characters. The show lasted 4 seasons, so it had a pretty good run. I know a lot of us were disappointed that there wasn't at least a 5th season, though. The only thing I really didn't like about the series was the finale, where they killed off one of the main characters. I hate when any series does that.

The DV set is a good one. It's Blu-Ray so it fits nicely on the shelf. It has a ton of great behind-the scenes features, commentary, deleted scenes etc. I really enjoyed it. You should make sure to watch this series if you haven't already.  It will whet your appetite for the new series that's coming out later this year on CBS All Access.  I'm really looking forward to that one, and I hope it's way better than the reboot movies because those are always disappointing. The last one was better than the previous ones, though, so maybe they're getting the hang of it.
