Dynasty: The Final Season - Vol 1 & 2

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 9/9/14

I enjoyed all of the seasons of the show, but this last season was pretty weak...  There were big cast changes, but the main problem was the writing.  From what I've read online, ABC scheduled the show opposite "Cheers", which was very popular at that time, so it was the final nail in Dynasty's coffin.

After 8 years of watching the show, you get used to the show and its style, and its characters, and they become very important to you, so you don't notice so much that it's getting a lot worse. You're just grateful to have it as long as you can. Looking back on it now, it's a lot more obvious. Also, TV shows were a lot slower back then, and primetime soaps in particular were a lot more campy.

As a long-time Dynasty fan, it's great to finally have all of the shows on DVD (even the bad ones). Now they need to come up with the follow-up movie, which ties up a lot of the storylines. Sadly, there are no extras or features. It would have been nice to have the cast members talk about the end of the show.

If you're a fan of the show, you should definitely buy all 9 seasons!
