Criminal Minds Season 11

Criminal Minds Season 11

 Review by Suzanne Lanoue 8/30/16

This show has always been one that's sometimes hard to watch, but it's also hard not to watch, once you start. It delves into the depths of the human psyche - the violent and crazy parts of it, anyway.

There have been many cast changes over the years, but this year, the show lost Shemar Moore (Derek Morgan).  He's the reason many of us started or stayed watching, so it'll be interesting to see how the show handles that in the 12th season, or how it'll affect the ratings. Even though the producers think that the show is popular because of its stories, not the actors....that's not necessarily true.

The show has also lost its main hero, Hotch, played by Thomas Gibson. He apparently assaulted one of the writers/producers, and they're saying that this is not a one-time thing, so they fired him. They've filmed a few episodes of the next season already, so we'll just have to wait and see how they handle his leaving, too. The two actors leave a huge hole that will be difficult to fill. I wish they could bring back Mandy Patinkin!

Aisha Tyler joins the cast as Dr. Tyler Lewis. I don't love her haircut (she looks like an escaped mental patient if you ask me), but she's an amazing actress who always does a fabulous job, so I'm glad to see her on the show. Oh, yeah, that also have the thrilled Dirty Dozen season arc storyline. I don't know how they keep coming up with these exciting (but loathsome) stories after all these years!

Besides the great cast, the gruesome and grisly stories are always good, and they have some outstanding guest stars. This 11th season we see Tim Kang ("The Mentalist"), Joel Gretsch, Taylor Spreitler, Wilson Bethel ("Hart of Dixie"), Bill Withers,  Joe Walsh, Sheryl Lee Ralph and more as the various victims and killers.

There are many great Special Features, which all CBS Home Video sets seem to have. They include: "Criminology," "To Derek With Love" (my favorite!)," "The Dirty Eleven," "The Good Doctor" as well as commentaries, deleted scenes and a gag reel! You don't want to miss this show this season!

Release Date: August 30

One of the most-watched shows on broadcast TV, the 11th Season of Criminal Minds, will soon be available! In the wake of Kate Callahan's departure from the BAU, the team interviews a batch of BAU applicants in hopes of finding a new addition to the team, including an impressive forensic anthropologist, Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) who is eager to help them on their cases. Meanwhile, the team continues to travel from major cities, to small towns and even to a community inhabited completely by sexual predators, in pursuit of deranged serial killers, homicidal scorned hearts, and obsessive stalkers.
