DVD TV Show Reviews

 Aaahh!!! Real Monsters: Season One

  Review by Suzanne 10/4/11

This is a fun, cute kids' show that aired in the 90's on Nickelodeon. It has a lot of fans that have been waiting a long time to get the show on DVD.  This is not just a nostalgia set. Today's kids should love it, too. Anyone who likes wacky animated shows like Animaniacs would probably love it, too

The reason kids would love this is that it has lots of silly-looking monsters that make gross and funny sounds.  It is constantly moving, too, and of course there are cute and silly voices as well.  Older kids and adults should like it because it's clever and has lots of jokes. It is pure mindless fun.

There aren't any extras or features on the DVD set, but it's nice to have, anyway. There is also no closed-captioning, which is too bad. I think every DVD should have it. You can listen to the DVD in English or Spanish, though, so at least it's bilingual.

Show it on Halloween!  Give this to your favorite kid for Christmas!

Boo! Aaahh!!! Real Monsters are coming! Nickelodeon’s hilarious Aaahh!! Real Monsters are here and learning the basics of ‘frightdom.’ Watch their lessons unravel on October 4, 2011 when Shout! Factory releases Aaahh!!! Real Monsters: Season One on DVD. Long anticipated by fans, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters: Season One has not been available in stores until now. A must-have for fans of Nickelodeon, cartoon fanatics and DVD collectors, the tw0-disc DVD set, which features all 13 Season One episodes, has a suggested retail price of $19.93.

A favorite amongst fans and critics, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters: Season One, follows the adventures of Ickis, Oblina, and Krumm, three adolescent monsters who are learning the tricks of the monster trade at an underground school located in the city dump. The monsters try but repeatedly fail to properly scare humans though they have made perfecting their scariness a personal goal. Under the guidance of headmaster The Gromble, scare tactics are assigned as homework and each monster has to use his natural talent to its full potential.

Created by Klasky-Csupo, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters aired on Nickelodeon from 1994-2000 and returned in 2002 on the Nicktoons Network. In 2006, the show began airing on Nick Rewind. The show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in Outstanding Achievement in Animation.
