Single Parents poster

Review of "Single Parents" 9/27/18 by Eva Diaz
airs Wednesdays, 8:30/9:30pm on ABC

This show seemed funny from the commercials I saw, so I thought I would watch. I'm delighted to say that it is very funny. It's about a group of single parents that have small children, and they form a friendship with each other, and support each other with baby-sitting and whatever emotional support they need, as well as advice. The friends are either divorced or widowed, and they try their best to guide their children through life, as well as try to have social lives themselves.

The cast is large and Brad Garrett (who plays Doug) is the only actor that I recognize. The cast is funny, although I didn't laugh too much, as I often do in premiere episodes of shows, since it takes awhile for the casts of new shows to get their timing and chemistry together. Once the cast members start to gel together, it will do well. The kids in the cast are cute, although I dislike the fact that in the first episode, one of the small children in the cast used a bad word that had no need to be there. However, I do think this show is worth watching and will be a hit. I give this show 5 out of 5 stars.

SINGLE PARENTS (Wednesdays, 9:30-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)

Series Premieres Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018

This ensemble comedy follows a group of single parents as they lean on each other to help raise their 7-year-old kids and maintain some kind of personal lives outside of parenthood. The series begins when the group meets Will Cooper, a 30-something guy who’s been so focused on raising his daughter that he’s lost sight of who he is as a man. When the other single parents see just how far down the rabbit hole of PTA, parenting and princesses Will has gone, they band together to get him out in the world and make him realize that being a great parent doesn’t mean sacrificing everything about your own identity.
The series stars Taran Killam as Will Cooper, Leighton Meester as Angie D’Amato, Kimrie Lewis as Poppy Banks, Jake Choi as Miggy Park, Marlow Barkley as Sophie Cooper, Tyler Wladis as Graham D’Amato, Devin Trey Campbell as Rory Banks, Mia Allan as Emma Fogerty, Ella Allan as Amy Fogerty and Brad Garrett as Douglas Fogerty.

The series is from 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Studios. JJ Philbin and Elizabeth Meriwether are creators and executive producers, and Katherine Pope and Erin O’Malley are executive producers. The pilot was directed by Jason Winer, who is also an executive producer.
