TV Show Reviews
Review of "Card
airs Wednesdays, 9/8c on ABC
This is another revival of a popular game show from the
1980's. This time it's hosted by Joel Mchale (from
"Community"). The rules of the show are simple: contestants
have to predict whether cards will be higher or lower.
First, they have to predict how 100 people answer survey
questions, in order to win a turn to play the cards. The
winner gets to play the bonus game, where the winning
contetant bets money on whether the cards will be higher or
lower, and to see if they keep the money or lose money
(depending on whether their predictions are correct). I
think the game is exciting, and I've always enjoyed it. I'm
glad it's returned, but I dislike Joel Mchale as the host.
He's too serious and low-key. Maybe it's because he has
never hosted a game show before, but I just don't feel like
he's rooting for the contestants to win the game. He also
doesn't seem sad when they lose the game. Tthe game shows I
enjoy watching most make me feel like the host wants the
contestants to win just as much as the audience at home
does. I hope that he gets better - I think he just needs to
feel more comfrtable in his new job.
I still think
the show is worth watching because the live audience in the
studio is rooting for the contestants, which makes up for
the lack of ethusiam from Joel Mchale. I give this show 4
out of 5 stars.
