The Defenders

Review of "Marvel's The Defenders" 8/20/17 by Suzanne
Airs now on Netflix

I love all of the superhero shows and movies, so it's hard for me to be unbiased. I especially love "Daredevil" because I grew up reading those comics, and Netflix did such a fantastic job of reproducing that series. I know a lot of people didn't like "Iron Fist," for various reasons. It was not as good as the other shows, but I still enjoyed it. It's great seeing them all together again in "The Defenders."  The dialogue is very good. The fight scenes are outstanding. The interpersonal play between the heroes is great. On top of all that, we have excellent villains, including Sigourney Weaver, plus Elektra returns! There's nothing not to like here. My only complaint would be that it's only 8 episodes, so it went by way too fast and left me wanting more. I guess that with all of the actors, there were time and budget constraints that made them only do 8. I hope we see season two and beyond. Personally, I would rather watch this than any of the "Avengers" movies.

Make sure you watch the two seasons of "Daredevil," plus "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," and "Iron Fist" before you watch this, or you won't know who is who or what's going on nearly as well as you should.

Marvelís The Defenders follows Daredevil AKA Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist AKA Danny Rand (Finn Jones), a quartet of singular heroes with one common goal Ė to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who reluctantly realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

The series is executive produced by showrunner Marco Ramirez (Marvelís Daredevil Season 2 , Fear the Walking Dead), Douglas Petrie (Marvelís Daredevil, American Horror Story ), Jeph Loeb (Marvelís Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage, Marvelís Iron Fist), and Jim Chory (Marvelís Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage, Marvelís Iron Fist). The action-filled drama brings the four members of the street-level hero team known as The Defenders to the screen. Marvelís The Defenders is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. All 8 original episodes of Marvelís The Defenders will premiere exclusively on 18t h August, 2017 on Netflix.

The cast also features Academy Award ģ and Emmy ģ nominee Sigourney Weaver (Avatar , Alien), Elodie Yung (Marvelís Daredevil, Gods of Egypt), Jessica Henwick (Marvelís Iron Fist , Game of Thrones), Rosario Dawson (Marvelís Luke Cage, Sin City), Rachael Taylor (Marvelís Jessica Jones, Transformers), Eka Darville (Marvelís Jessica Jones), Elden Henson (Marvelís Daredevil, Hunger Games , Deborah Ann Woll (Marvelís Daredevil, True Blood), Scott Glenn (Marvelís Daredevil, The Leftovers), Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvelís Jessica Jones, The Matrix Trilogy) and Simone Missick (Marvelís Luke Cage).
