I watched all 6 episodes of this show and enjoyed it. It's a
very unusual show about a doctor, Mary Harris (Caroline
Dhavernas) who helps people end their lives, much like Dr.
Kevorkian. Unlike Kevorkian, she doesn't advertise what she
does and isn't willing to go to jail for it. Kevorkian
wanted to make a stand and change the laws. She wants to
help people who are suffering. It's related to her past with
Aiding her is Des (Richard Short) a
handsome former plastic surgeon with a killer British
accent. He provides a lot of the comedy in the show.
Jay Ryan (of "Beauty & The Beast") plays a cop,
Ben, who pretends
to be dying so that he can catch her in the act (because
suicide, as well as assisting suicide, is illegal).
One of Des and Mary's former patients, who was very young, had a
judge father who wants to see Mary pay.
Mary and Des
mostly help people who are in pain and dying slowly--
suffering. It's great to see TV address this issue. There's
a lot more humor than you would think. Mary and Ben have a
great attraction, which complicates things. Mary's daughter
and her friend are suspicious about Mary's secret life.
Mary's sister (played by Chicago Fire's Charlotte Sullivan)
shares some of her secrets. There's also a drug
dealer, Grady (Bitten's Greg Bryk) and Mary's ex-husband,
who's married to a lawyer. There are many interesting twists
and turns. I hope there's a second season!
I hope you
can check it out because it's worth watching. I'll be
interviewing Charlotte Sullivan next week, too.
