Mary and Jane stars

"Mary + Jane" review by Suzanne 9/10/16
Airs Mondays 9pm on MTV

Although this show stars to women, their names are Jordan and Paige, not Mary and Jane.  The girls sell pot for their legal business in California, delivering it all over L.A.  It has the same sort of sarcastic humor as "Another Period" or "Broad City."  It's just not very funny to me (I might be too old to enjoy their type of hipster weed humor).  Snoop Dog produces the show. I think the show reminds me a bit of "2 Broke Girls," but not in a good way. It's not nearly as funny as that show.

In the first episode, one of the girls, whose boyfriend broke up with her, has sex with one of her new customers.  He thinks she's a prostitute, at first, so he offers to pay her. While she's disgusted that he thinks that, he's very happy to find out that she actually wanted to have sex with him and isn't just a hooker. That was probably the only funny part of the entire first episode.

I wouldn't bother with it unless you're really into pot humor. Maybe if you're stoned when you watch it, then it's really funny.

“Mary + Jane,” an all-new comedy featuring the "ganja-preneurs" of the east-side of Los Angeles, premieres on Monday, September 5 at 10:00pm ET/PT on MTV.

Series Description: Paige (Jessica Rothe) and Jordan (Scout Durwood) may be weed dealers, but in their eyes they are entrepreneurs. Their dope delivery app is quickly gaining popularity with foodies, celebrities and – the most particular and crucial consumer – trendsetters. “Mary + Jane” takes a hilarious look at two girls living in LA: desperate to succeed, find a little romance, and keep their clients happy and high – all with the least amount of effort possible.

“Mary + Jane” is executive produced by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont ("Can't Hardly Wait"). Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady ("Game of Thrones") Marcus Blakely and Jill McElroy serve as executive producers. Snoop Dogg and Ted Chung from MERRY JANE ( serve as executive producers.
