Love Connection

Review of "Love Connection" 6/14/17 by Suzanne
Airs Thursdays 9/8c on FOX

This is a fun show. I didn't watch the original one, so I can't compare them. However, from what I read, the rules are a bit different. Also, in this newer version, they have mixed-race as well as gay couples.

Andy Cohen is a fun and energetic host. He's funny, so he's a natural for this. In the show, there is one main contestant who's gone on three dates with three different people. The show pays the three people to set up the dates. They discuss each person that they dated, and they reveal how they rated the other person's physical attractiveness on a 1-10 scale when they first met them.

Each of them talks about the date and what happened, and whether they liked the person, and whether they had a kiss or not. Then the audience votes on which person the contestant should choose. The contestant then chooses their favorite. If they match the same person as the audience, they get $10,000. If not, they either have to choose the money and go on a date with the person that the audience chose, or they choose their own person and forfeit the money.

Now, I don't know why you wouldn't just take the money, regardless, and then just make sure you had that other person's number so you could call them! You could even split the money with the person. How much can you hate someone that you wouldn't go on a second date with them for $10,000?? I don't get that.

In the first episode, they had first a white guy with three white women. He was a tall, kind of dopey guy. He chose the same woman as the audience chose. He had ranked her a ten (frankly, I don't know why because she was not that pretty, IMHO). He also liked the third woman, whom he didn't choose. I thought she was much prettier.

The second contestant was an African-American woman, and one of her choices was a white guy. She confessed that she had never dated a white guy. He was kind of dopey as well. She and the first guy really hated each other. Of course, that was the one that the audience chose! She decided to forego the money and stick with the dopey guy. At the end of the show, they revealed that she dumped him because he was still living with his ex-wife! So she and the other guy (not the one she hated) ended up dating instead! See, she should have taken the money...

It's a fun show to watch, so check it out.

Relationship Show Guru Mike Fleiss (“The Bachelor”) to Executive-Produce;
Cohen to Serve as Co-Executive Producer

Emmy Award winner Andy Cohen (“Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen”) will host LOVE CONNECTION, a new one-hour series that amps up the original hit dating show for today’s audiences. FOX has ordered 15 episodes of the new unscripted series, to be executive-produced by Mike Fleiss (“The Bachelor”). Additionally, Cohen will serve as a co-executive producer.

From Fleiss’ NEXT Entertainment, Warner Horizon Television and Telepictures Productions, LOVE CONNECTION is set to premiere on FOX in Summer 2017.

Each hour of LOVE CONNECTION will feature single men and/or women in search of romance. After the singles are sent on three blind dates, they will dish the dirt in front of a live studio audience, as Cohen, the well-known provocateur, brings his personal brand of audacious fun to the series.

“I was a huge fan of the original ‘Love Connection,’ and hosting the new version allows me to do one of the things I love most: meddling in people’s personal lives,” said Cohen.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this incredibly beloved and iconic show to primetime network television. The combination of the insanely talented Andy Cohen and the undisputed king of relationship shows Mike Fleiss is absolute magic...add in the perfect home of FOX...and I think we have a match made in heaven,” said Mike Darnell, President, Warner Bros. Unscripted and Alternative Television.

“‘Love Connection’ was always one of my favorite programs,” added Fleiss. “Show creator Eric Lieber was a close friend of mine. He taught me a lot about the relationship show format. The first rule – if the cast is good, just stay out of the way.”

LOVE CONNECTION will be produced by NEXT Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television and Telepictures Productions. Mike Fleiss (“The Bachelor”), Martin Hilton (“The Bachelor”), James Breen (SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, “American Idol”) and Jason Ehrlich (“The Bachelor”) will serve as executive producers. Cohen will serve as a co-executive producer.
