Strong on NBC

"Strong" review by Eva Diaz  4/17/16
Airs Thursdays 8/7c on NBC

I was curious to watch this show because it is from the creators of "The Biggest Loser," a show which I watch because it motivates me to exercise (even though I know that I won't lose weight as quickly as the contestants on that show).  "Strong" seems to be sort of a cross between "American Ninja Warrior" (ANW) and "The Biggest Loser."  10 women are teamed up with 10 of the best male trainers in the country, and the teams have to do challenges. At the end of each show, they do an American-Ninja-Warrior-style obstacle course, and the team that has the  slowest time of completion gets eliminated The teams also have a chance to win money each week in one of the challenges.

I don't watch ANW, so when I saw the commercials for this show, I thought I wasn't going to like it.  However, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this show.  I like it because it doesn't focus on getting you skinny; it focuses on getting you mentally and physically strong, so that the contestants can complete the challenges, and the very tough elimination obstacle course.  I also like that when they show the eliminated contestant's transformation, she looks like she is at a healthy weight. Also, she looks muscular, but not to the extreme.  If you enjoy inspiring tv shows that may help you to work out and be as healthy as you can be, then you will love this show.  I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
