Jay Leno and Tim Allen

"Jay Leno's Garage" review by Suzanne 10/21/15
Airs Wednesdays 10/9c on CNBC

I don't normally watch any shows that aren't fiction, and I really don't care much about cars, but this show is pretty entertaining. Jay Leno, former host of "The Tonight Show" has always been a huge car collector and fan.  He has hundreds of cars. He collects cars like I collect beanie babies or Star Wars figures.

Normally if I forget to record a new show, I can find it online or On Demand. Finding this one was tough. CNBC is not "On Demand," apparently, at least with my cable. I could only find it on Amazon Prime. It was worth it, though.  Jay interacts with various other car collectors and others, like race car drivers. Apparently Tim Allen is also a big car fan and collector, and they've had a friendly rivalry going on for years. They both like what's called "Muscle cars" - big cars with powerful engines made between 1965 and 1972. I grew up around that time, so that part was kind of interesting.

Jay Leno is a comedian, of course, so he keeps the show light and fun, and often humorous as well. I would actually rather watch this show than "The Tonight Show."  It's a lot more fun than watching Leno joke around with some actor that he doesn't care about. He gets to pick and choose what's going on with this show.

I read an article about the show in Entertainment Weekly. They said that normally, a show like this would cost too much because the cost of insuring all of those vehicles would be astronomical. Since Jay owns the cars, and he doesn't care if they get damaged, then it doesn't cost them much.  That's the way to do it. Hey, when do I get my show about my Elvis collectibles? Hello????

You should check it out if you like cars or Leno. I think most guys would like this show, and probably a lot of women would be surprised, like I was, that it was very entertaining.

Legendary comedian and “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno returns to television with a new weekly, one-hour CNBC primetime series, “Jay Leno’s Garage.”

The series will cover all things automotive including classic cars, super cars, restoration projects, road tests, investments and the inner workings of the car collectors’ market. “Jay Leno’s Garage” explores the world of cars, never forgetting that it’s the people behind the wheel who provide the real stories. Jay will travel the country on the hunt for the car world’s most radical rides and highlight the passion and the stories behind them. Whether it’s delving into the history of an iconic brand, testing the latest super car, offering consumer advice or investigating the latest automotive innovations, “Jay Leno’s Garage” follows Jay on his journey through the always-fascinating world of people, their prized automobiles and cars everywhere, new and old.
