I didn’t know one thing about "Town of the
Living Dead" before I pushed play on my DVD
player, so it was with a giant huff and eye roll
that I sat down to watch yet ANOTHER zombie
show. But this show is not your run-of-the-mill
zombie show; it's a reality show about a group
of folks trying to make a zombie movie in a tiny
town in Alabama.
This group of folks have been working on this
movie for the better part of six years, and it
seems like everything that can go wrong has.
There's a motherly executive producer that foots
the bill for the movie and often has her credit
card declined. You also have the aspiring auteur
director that moonlights at Radio Shack but
doesn’t have enough cash in his pocket to buy a
The fictional movie, "Thr33 Days Dead", is not
received well by the town, and sometimes they
picket the set and call 911 because having a
bunch of dead people running around “don’t seem
Christian.” The effects are terrible, the
writing is horrible, and the folks are pretty
amateur, but I sure did enjoy seeing them take a
stab at making a movie.
This is a clever little show that capitalizes on
the recent zombie craze (and the media
over-saturation). It's a pretty good mix of
AMC's "Small Town Security" and Syfy's "Face
Off"; it made me chuckle out loud several times.
