In true Adult Swim fashion, Tim and Eric’s
Bedtime Stories is weird… but in a good way.
Half satire, half Twilight Zone-throwback, the
anthology show exhibits exactly what Adult Swim
does best: question what you are experiencing
and wonder if you should take it seriously.
The half-hour show features two dark, twistedly
comic vignettes starring writers/directors Tim
Heidecker & Eric Wareheim. With each installment
running only about eleven minutes apiece, it
doesn’t take long to get the rhythm of the show
-- funny, weird, funny, weird.
Like a lot of Adult Swim programming, Bedtime
Stories isn’t for a broad audience. There are
some pretty macabre themes running throughout,
and the humor is black, at best. If you like
Children’s Hospital, or Harvey Birdman, Attorney
at Law, then you will like this show. If you
don’t enjoy the silly or the absurd, this show
is probably not for you.
I like this show as a filler, but it is not
really my brand of programming.
