Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

"Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" review by Suzanne 8/11/15
Airs Saturdays 10/9c on BBC America

This is a very weird, show, but the characters are very interesting, and eventually you get drawn in by the story. I don't always know what's going on, but I think I get the gist of it.

It takes place during the Napoleonic Wars in an England (19th century). Based on a novel, it's about two magicians who meet and how their relationship affects those around them as they use magical powers to help the government against the French.

This is not the best description. It's hard to explain a show this odd. You really have to see it for yourself and then decide if you like it or not.  It's very unusual. I'm not sure I'm going to keep watching it, but if I had more time, I probably would. It's only a 7-part miniseries.

It's entertaining and not terrible, and parts pretty amazing, but it's hard to get used to how very skewed it is.

Check it out!
