"Marry Us For Christmas" review by Suzanne 12/8/14
Premieres Sunday, December 7 at 7 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST on UpTV

This is a very entertaining movie! It's a fun, romantic holiday movie, very heartwarming and family-oriented, but not dull. The performances are very likable and real. I do admit I'm a softie when it comes to holiday movies, but some are better than others, and this is one of the very good ones.

I haven't heard of most of the cast, but some of them seem very familiar to me, so I may have seen them in other movies or TV shows and just not seen their names. The movie's a sequel to a previous holiday movie, "Marry Me for Christmas", which I haven't seen. They'll be showing that this weekend as well, but you don't need to watch the first one to enjoy the second one because they're completely separate.

This young couple, Marci (Malinda Williams) and Blair (Karon Riley), decide to get married at Christmas instead of in the Summer as they'd planned. He lives in Atlanta and she lives in New York. So the movie is all about how they plan the wedding, the problems they encounter because of finances and their jobs, and moving, and how the family gets involved. The B part of the story is about how Marci's mother, Stephanie (Victoria Rowell), has found romance with a young dance instructor.  The main characters all have secrets that they're keeping from each other.

Marci's family includes two aunts and an uncle, and it's a really great, warm family. I wish I had that family! But they're very real, not like your typical TV family.  Besides the wonderful acting and solid story, there is also some singing and dancing, but it's all organic to the story. This isn't a musical. It's basically a romantic comedy.

I loved seeing all of the Christmas decorations, and the outfits they wore, and it was just a very nice way to pass a few hours. Also, I have to mention that the singing done by Marques Houston (Antonio) in one scene is fabulous!

This is on Up TV, which is on DirecTV, DISH, and some cable networks. Make sure you watch it, and if your cable company doesn't get it, email or call them to tell them to get it. UpTV has many great movies and is soon getting a new series. I hope that eventually they make a sequel, and that the movies will be out on DVD.

I interviewed Victoria Rowell, so check it out, but you may want to skip all of the promo stuff at the end until after you watch the movie because there are some slight spoilers.
