Rizzoli & Isles

"Rizzoli & Isles" review by Suzanne
Airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on TNT

I enjoy Rizzoli & Isles. The characters are all like a fun family. They just happen to solve murder cases while they're exchanging quips. This year they had to deal with the death of one of their actors, Lee Thompson Young, killed himself, so they had to pay tribute to the character, Barry. It's good that they didn't just replace him. They did a great job with his death and funeral. I can't wait to see what happens next! They often have really exciting guest stars.

There are very few shows on TV with two female protagonists. It's great to have this one. Maura and Jane are very different, almost like Felix and Oscar. Even though the show has lots of humor, they don't skimp on the drama and pathos.

If you're never seen it, you'll want to go watch the previous seasons, but you won't be too lost if you just start watching the current episodes. The murder mystery is almost always covered in just one episode.

America's Toughest Crime-Solving Duo Returns June 17 in Season 5 of TNT’s Hit Series Rizzoli & Isles

This summer, cable's #1 crime-drama of 2013 is back with more drama and suspense than ever as TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles returns for its fifth season. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander star in the chart-busting series has ranked as one of basic cable's Top 3 series for the past three consecutive years. Season five of TNT's Rizzoli & Isles is set to launch Tuesday, June 17, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).

Based on characters created by best-selling crime novelist Tess Gerritsen and developed for television by Janet Tamaro, Rizzoli & Isles stars Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective, and Alexander as Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry, an authentic and deep friendship and a unique working relationship that together, helps them to solve the most complex murder mysteries in the city of Boston.

Rizzoli & Isles also stars Jordan Bridges as Jane’s brother, Detective Frankie Rizzoli Jr.; Bruce McGill as Sgt. Detective Vince Korsak, Jane’s steady old-school Homicide Squad teammate; and Lorraine Bracco as Angela, Jane's meddling mother.

As Rizzoli & Isles' fourth season came to an end, Jane announced that she was leaving her fiancé (guest star Chris Vance) and revealed the shocking news that she is pregnant. Meanwhile, the relationship between Maura and Frankie became more complex as they appeared to become more than friends.

In season five, Jane and Maura will investigate more complex and dangerous cases than ever before, including the murder of a jogging mother that leads to the search for her missing baby, the pursuit of a killer who uses online ads to lure in the perfect candidate for murder, and the investigation of a man killed in his supposedly impenetrable doomsday shelter. The team will also deal with the loss of a dear friend and colleague as they say goodbye to Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young).

Developed for television by Janet Tamaro and based on a series of novels by best-selling crime writer Tess Gerritsen, Rizzoli & Isles is produced for TNT by Warner Horizon Television and Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions. Haber, Michael Katleman and showrunner Jan Nash serve as executive producers.
