"Bones" review by Suzanne
Premieres Monday September 17 on FOX
Those of us who have been big fans of the show since it
started are always glad to have it back. Now that it's a
bonafide hit for FOX, we don't have to worry as much as we
used to about how many years it has left. Still, it's
getting a bit long in the tooth now, so I do wonder how many
seasons it has left before they really run out of ideas, or
the actors get sick of doing it, or fans move on to
something else, or FOX decides it just costs too much
Bones started out as a sort of quirky version of CSI, but
it quickly became clear that the characters are more
important than the story. The A story about what's going on
with Booth, Bones, and the others is always way more
interesting than whatever the B story is (the murder they
have to solve). In that sense, it's similar to NCIS, which
is always better when it focuses on the characters rather
than their case.
At the end of last season, Booth had to break off his
engagement to Bones, and he couldn't tell her why (because
Pelant threatened to kill more people if he didn't).
So this season, especially in the first episode, we get to
see the fall-out from that. Temperance is very hurt and
upset, and the other people she works with are not too
pleased with Booth, either. After a lot of
soul-searching, Temperance and Seeley do come to a good
agreement at the end of this episode.
Yes, there was a murder, and it was kind of interesting
because it led us to a new CIA character, played by Freddie
Prinze, Jr. Also, Booth confides in an old bartender
friend (who used to be a priest in the army with him).
The only part of the episode I didn't like was Daisy. Can't
Pelant kill her off? She is so annoying.
I can't wait to see what else is in store for everyone

he begins to realize that Siedel’s murder could yield more
suspects than the team had anticipated. Booth also seeks out
Aldo Clemens (guest star Mather Zickel), his friend and an
ex-priest from their military days together, to get advice
on his relationship with Brennan, now that Pelant has put a
wedge between them. Meanwhile, Brennan must decide whether
