This show was originally supposed to start September 16,
but now it's been pushed back. I wonder why? The pilot
episode is fantastic. It is great. First of all, it's done
by the same people that brought us "Fringe", so it's truly
great science fiction. It reminds me somewhat of "Bladerunner"
in parts. It's just really really good.
The main two detectives are played by Karl Urban (Dr.
McCoy in the Star Trek movies!) and Michael Ealey, who was
so great in "Common Law" on USA. Urban plays a
hard-boiled detective who's been to Hell and back and now
has an artificial leg. It's funny that Urban plays Dr. McCoy
because his character here is nothing like him. In fact, if
anything, he reminds me quite a bit of Gary Lockwood.
Ealey plays his robot partner.
The show takes place in a grimy future with more crime,
where robots help the police with the horrible criminals.
It's a bit dark, but not too disturbing, and it's way better
than any other science fiction show you've seen that takes
place in the future. Everyone in the cast does a great
job on the acting. The plot moves along really fast and
makes you want more and more. It ends with a big shocker,
Don't miss this one!
SLATED FOR THIS FALL ON FOX
Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J.
Abrams (“Fringe,” “Lost,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission:
Impossible” franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman (“Fringe,”
“The Mexican”) and starring Karl Urban (“Star Trek”),
Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”) and Emmy Award
nominee Lili Taylor (“Six Feet Under,”), ALMOST HUMAN is a
high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the
future, when police officers are partnered with highly
evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is
forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair
with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and
investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.
