TV Show Reviews
"Nashville" review by Suzanne
Wednesdays 10/9c on ABC
This is a really good show. I wasn't sure if it would be
or not, but it is. For one thing, it's a great soap opera,
with a wonderful cast. For another, the music is
outstanding. For those who are not really into country
music, you don't need to worry because the country music is
not only very good but it's more like pop or rock than
anything too twangy.
The show centers on a middle-aged country singer, Rayna
(played by Connie Britton), whose latest record is not
selling well, and her latest tour is not selling tickets.
Her record label wants her to pair up with younger singer
Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), but the women clearly don't
like or respect each other, or their music. Also, there are
several subplots involving Rayna's husband, Teddy, her
father, Lamar, and the men in the band. Teddy is
played by Eric Close, who is always great, and Lamar is
played by the fantastic Powers Boothe. It's a great cast,
and they all do a wonderful job, but the key is the writing,
which is really good.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
