Golden Boy

"Golden Boy" review by Suzanne
Fridays 9/8c on CBS

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this show- not at first. It was a little uneven at the beginning. The hero of the show, Clark, played by Theo James, is very handsome, but his face is kind of comical as well. Some of the early scenes almost seem unintentionally humorous. But after that, it got much better, and I really enjoyed it.

The show is about a young New York City cop who does some heroic stuff and then gets promoted to detective. The others all treat him like he's too young, which he is. He's kind of brash and ambitious, so he comes over kind of obnoxious sometimes. He has a new partner that's this world-weary old guy who counsels him, Owen (Chi McBride, who's always great). Besides that, the show is seen mostly in flashbacks from 7 years later, when Clark has become Chief of Police. I don't know why they would do that. It's kind of interesting, I guess.

I really liked the actors and the plot of the show. I will probably keep watching it. I was very glad to see Holt McCallany in a small role. I loved him in "Lights Out" on FX. I hope you enjoy the show, too!
