"Suits" review by Suzanne
Thursdays 10/9 central on USA Network starting June 14

I love this show, but I always forget how much until I watch it again. It's got a dumb, non-descript name, so I think that's why.

In some ways, it's a legal drama, but the legal issues are not the main part of the show.  They are almost peripheral to the interplay between the characters.  The romances and other relationships are important, almost to the point of making it soap-opera-like, but not in a cliched or annoying way.

The main show is about Mike, this super-smart lawyer that never went to college, let alone law school. He is hired to be a lawyer at this corporate law firm by partner Harvey, a fast-approaching-middle-age high-powered attorney. Harvey knows that Mike is not really a lawyer and didn't go to Harvard, but he and Mike lie to everyone because Mike is such a great lawyer and so smart.  He is Harvey's protoge. Harvey and Mike are kind of friends, but also kind of like father-son or brothers.

Even though they are a corporate firm, Mike manages to find the humanity the situations and does the right thing, even if sometimes that means going against their clients. Harvey tries to be very hard and ruthless, and he tries teaching that to Mike, but he really admires Mike, who helps him find his own humanity.  Harvey has verbal sex all the time with Jessica, the other major partner in the firm.  This season, we see more interplay between Mike and Jessica as well. Mike also has a romance going on with co-worker Rachel, but they are reluctant to cross that line from co-workers to lovers.

The stories and characters are really well-written and interesting, and the show always surprises me with the way things turn out. At the end of last season, Mike's ex-friend told Jessica the truth about Mike's background. What will she do, and how will Mike be able to stay at the law firm? Things become very exciting in the premiere when we meet another partner in the firm.

Check it out tomorrow and you won't be sorry!

Will Harvey back up Mike’s lie when Jessica gets involved? The answers to your burning questions will begin to unfold this week in the two dynamic premieres.

Thursday, June 14 – SUITS – “She Knows” – 10/9c – SEASON PREMIERE

USA’s crtically-acclaimed, award-nominated hit original series from last summer, SUITS, returns for its much-anticipated sophmore season on Thursday, June 14 at 10/9c, for ten all-new episodes. The series stars SAG Award-nominated Patrick J. Adams  ("Luck"), Gabriel Macht ("Love and Other Drugs"), Meghan Markle ("CSI Miami"), Gina Torres ("Firefly”), Rick Hoffman ("Samantha Who") and Sarah Rafferty (“Brothers & Sisters”).

SUITS delves into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a top Manhattan corporate law firm where Macht stars as legendary law partner, Harvey Specter, and SAG Award-nominee Adams stars as his brilliant, but not-technically-legal associate Mike Ross. Despite his lack of bonafide credentials, Mike’s photographic memory and encyclopedic legal knowledge make him an invaluable asset to Harvey. The dynamic duo have managed to guard the secret thus far, but as the first season came to a close, Mike’s future hangs in the balance when his ex-best friend sets out to expose him to the firm’s top suit, Jessica Pearson (Torres). But, Jessica could have bigger problems on her hands when the other half of Pearson Hardman, Daniel (guest star David Costabile) reemerges on the scene. Meanwhile, Mike’s love life has become complicated after he crossed the line with the firm’s best paralegal and his only friend in the office, Rachel (Markle). In addition to Costabile, guest stars for the season include Eric Close, John Finn, Margo Martindale and Rachel Harris. From Universal Cable Productions, SUITS was created and is executive produced by Aaron Korsh ("The Deep End"). Doug Liman (COVERT AFFAIRS, the "Bourne" trilogy, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith") and David Bartis (COVERT AFFAIRS, "The O.C.") of Hypnotic also serve as executive producers. Gene Klein (COVERT AFFAIRS), Jon Cowan and Daniel Arkin serve as co-executive producers.

When it aired Thursdays at 10pm, SUITS made USA the most watched network in all of television—broadcast or cable—in delivering P25-54, beating every cable competitor in total viewers and households, as well. SUITS is one of the network's top ranked freshman seasons of an original series in P25-54, P18-49, P18-34 and total viewers.

Heading into the new season of SUITS, fans can experience more of Pearson Hardman via online and mobile devices to learn more about the firm along with its powerful legal teams – from partners to assistants. Viewers can prepare for the return of the summer’s hottest show by testing their prowess in closing deals for the firm or taking the Young Genius Trivia Quiz to ensure they are ready to go toe-to-toe with other counselors. The skills they sharpen now will help them as they participate in a new interactive storytelling experience which USA will unveil across digital channels when the show returns.

:UPDATE: This show is always such a hoot. It's a soap opera, really, because the relationships of the characters are more important than anything else. It's the work relationships, the romantic relationships, the family relationships, and the friendships, all rolled together. The legal issues are always secondary. And it has lots of great humor.

The summer finale is really great. We finally get to see who wins the battle between Jessica and the other partner, Daniel Hardman. I won't spoile it for you, but just think, which situation do you think would be better to carry over to a new season and make more dramatic effect - Jessica and Harvey winning, or Jessica and Harvey losing? Writers don't care what we want, and they want more conflict and drama. Anyway, it's a great episode, with all the fall-out from that and from the death of Mike's grandma, seen in the previous episode.  There are some really great scenes with Harvey and Mike, having fun in a way we haven't seen before. It's really awesome. Don't miss it!
