Deep in the heart of Texas, Bobby Hamilton has been on the hunt for Bigfoot ever since encountering the monster as a child. Decades later, the world still doesn’t have definitive proof of Bigfoot’s existence. That’s where Bobby, his friend Jim Lansdale, and their team of monster hunters, known as the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization (GCBRO), have decided to take matters into their own hands. Down south, the hunters believe a sleeker, faster and more aggressive type of Bigfoot is attacking people’s homes, farm animals and pets. In the all-new series KILLING BIGFOOT, GCBRO is on a mission to help families terrorized by Bigfoot and prove once and for all that the fabled creature exists by killing one specimen – and providing a body of definitive scientific proof. The six-episode first season of KILLING BIGFOOT premieres Saturday, February 4 at 10/9c on Destination America.
Season Premiere: Saturday, February 4 at 10/9c
Three members of GCBRO speak at the Honobia Bigfoot Conference in Oklahoma, where they meet angry resistance from those who want Bigfoot left in peace. The team is called away to Louisiana, where new evidence has been unearthed following an alleged Bigfoot hit and run: a tiny primate-like skull with teeth, which they send to a DNA lab for testing. Several locals have reported seeing a small orangutan-like creature and hearing monkey-like sounds near the woods. GCBRO organize a night hunt during which they have a frightening close-encounter and then possibly capture footage of Bigfoot itself.

Premieres Wednesday, February 1, at 10 PM ET/PT on the Discovery Channel Beautiful photos!
For the past century, the shores and waterways of Nome, Alaska have been a beacon to hard working dreamers. Fortunes have been won and lost for the miners seeking the golden riches of the Bering Sea. Now, after years of mining, the easy gold is long gone and dependable ground is starting to run dry. Those still willing to seek gold in Nome are increasingly driven to the extreme, having to go deeper into the Bering Sea and risk more than ever before to claim it. It’s a big gamble – and where ingenuity and nerves of steel could bring huge fortune.
This season, Shawn Pomrenke struggles to hold together his family’s flourishing mining empire. Staking their future on 10,000 acres of property thought to contain a quarter-billion dollars in gold, closing the deal requires a $3 million down payment. To finance the transaction, Shawn returns to the Bluff, a remote location 100 miles east of Nome. With the family’s future and his reputation on the line, Shawn needs a big payout. Anything less and the entire empire could come tumbling down.
Meanwhile, Zeke Tenhoff continues his alliance with former flame Emily Riedel. The pair heads 26 miles off shore to Sledge Island, a mysterious, deserted, volcanic formation fabled to have mounds of gold in its unexplored waters. If the duo can make it across the open ocean in their tiny dredge and manage to find gold, they’ll be at the top of Nome’s new gold game.
After five years of scheming and scamming, most of Nome harbors a severe distrust of the Kelly family, making it difficult for them to get access to good mining ground. This season, Kris has been elevated to captain, with the hope of turning things around, pulling his family’s finances – and reputation – out of the gutter. This summer, he'll make sure everything works, including his dad and brother but with bridges burned, options are running out for the Kellys. If Kris can’t learn to overcome the odds by legitimate means, it could sink his mining ambitions for good.
Nome newcomer – George Young –hopes to create his own gold mining enterprise and get out from under his older brother’s shadow. An avid outdoorsman, diver, sport shooter, skier and passionate adventurer, George is clearly undeterred by the pick-up truck accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. In debt from buying and outfitting the dredge, he sets his sights high from deep in the hole. Like so many before him, George thinks he has what it takes to hit a golden payday. He just hopes that unlike all those others, he’s right. Read Our Interview with Mr. Young

A new Smithsonian Channel four-part series provides an inside look into the men and women who re-invented the advertising industry from post-WWII America through the 1980s.  THE REAL MAD MEN OF ADVERTISING: THE 1980s Premieres Sunday, January 29th at 9 p.m. ET/PT The 1980s were a time when greed was good, 24-hour sponsored programming was legal, and advertising became entertainment. Out of the economic hardship of the 1970s, the election of Ronald Reagan offered a welcome brand of optimism. A Madison Avenue dream team delivered a Reagan campaign commercial that put his candidacy over the top -- promising --Morning in America.-- Political confidence fueled an era of heavy consumption and new categories of designer products. Fifteen-year-old model Brooke Shields starred in the most controversial campaign of the decade, for Calvin Klein jeans -- a steamy ad that was later pulled from major networks. Calvin Klein went on to make men--s underwear a fashion statement - setting the bar for the sexy, well-groomed 1980s man. Hispanic-Americans found representation that they were so dearly lacking in the advertising industry. A 1984 Super Bowl commercial, directed by Ridley Scott, introduced the Apple Macintosh that promised to revolutionize the world. At the same time, cable television exploded and MTV became a network that spoke to teens in a way no one had before. With this first generation of music videos, content and commercial became indistinguishable.
