BASHIOUM OFF Y&R
Ashley Bashioum is leaving The Young and the Restless again. The actress, who returned to Y&R last April after taking two years off for school, is departing to pursue her education full-time. "Ashley is a terrific performer who is also very dedicated to her pre-med studies, and we had scheduling problems," explains the show's co-executive producer Jack Smith. Y&R has already hired Rachel Kimsey to assume the role of Mac. Kimsey, a daytime newcomer, was discovered while auditioning for the part of Victoria Newman, recently filled by All My Children alum Amelia Heinle. Kimsey becomes the fourth actress to play Katherine's headstrong granddaughter; she'll debut on March 28.

ASHLEY BASHIOUM returned this week as Katherine's strong-willed granddaughter, Mackenzie Browning. What's it been like for Ashley to step back into this familiar role? "It's kind of weird, but I'm getting back into the groove of things," she admits. When show producers approached Ashley to come back as Mac, she realized that it was the best fit for her. "I would rather come back here than go to New York or go to a different soap. I just really like it here. And they wanted to work around my school schedule, which was the most important thing to me," she reveals. Welcome back Ashley
