Brock: "I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord. He that believeth in me, though dead, yet he shall live. And whoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." Uh, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Brock-- Brock Reynolds. Uh, Katherine Chancellor was my mother. And, uh, we're here today to mourn her death and celebrate the life of this most extraordinary-- extraordinary woman. Excuse me. Um, my sister Jill and I, we can attest that she was a loving mother. She was a loving stepmother, as well. I know that she was a-a friend to many of you. And she was never too tired or busy to give of herself when someone needed her advice or her comfort. She was there. And yet, somehow, she always managed to find time to work tirelessly for-- for charity. And I'm not talking about, you know, putting on the fancy gown, you go to the fundraisers. You know, you write out the check. Of course, she did plenty of that. And she supported many worthwhile organizations around the world. No, I'm talking about a woman who would roll up her sleeves, tie on the apron and serve meals to the less fortunate every thanksgiving. And no one put their feet under the table until everyone was fed and the last pot was washed at the community center. I'm talking about a woman who took it upon herself to personally see that the children at the homeless shelter-- that they had a beautiful tree and a visit from Santa every year.
And after she fought her personal demons, she picked up a paint brush, she stood alongside other devoted volunteers, and helped to make the dream of a state-of-the-art inner city recreational center a reality. My mother did all this and so much more, because she believed as did the late President Kennedy, that for those who much is given, much is required. Katherine Chancellor never shirked from her responsibility to give back to her community. And all the gifts that she received over her lifetime, not once-- never did she ever take them for granted. She's such a classy lady. I'm gonna miss her terribly. She was an angel on earth. Now she's an angel in heaven. So... let us pray.
