Writing – What Can We Expect Next?
August 10, 2006
After what I thought was a relatively clever,
new and creative storyline regarding Brad’s past, the writing staff
have once again disappointed me. How on earth do they expect viewers
to believe that Victoria, who did a little art while she was in Europe
for a year, have the talent to recreate, and therefore fool these art
experts on one of the most sought after pieces in art and reliquary
history?
First of all, what store did she go to in order
to find these reliquary materials? She went out and came back with
everything she needed, and pretty fast I might add. She did all this
in a foreign town that she knows nothing about? Give me a break.
Secondly, these guys that are after the piece
are art experts. If we are expected to believe that Victoria’s
reliquary is going to pass off as the ultimate thing that saves
Sharon, these writers will lose all credibility in my books. After
such a creative storyline, they better not end it with this. That is
once again, a classic lazy escape out of the mess they created.
This recent turn of events really makes me
question the quality of storylines we are going to see with this new
writing staff. Ever since Lynn Marie Latham joined The Young and the
Restless, we’ve suddenly seen veteran writers like Jim Houghton get
dismissed in favor of writers who wrote for other, less successful
soaps. In a snap of a few fingers we now have a writing staff that
includes several former Port Charles writers, one former One Life to
Live writer, and another former Days of our Lives writer. I’m sorry
but if I’m not mistaken, Port Charles got cancelled, OLTL has never
been anything to brag about, and Days lost their credibility after the
“Marlena is possessed by the devil” storyline. So my question is, why
are they bringing these people in? And why are we now watching such
bad stories like Victoria saving the day, and Daniel and Lily
pondering their marriage?
The opinions in these articles are those of the writer and do not
