Well, well, well! Looks like “The Drucilla” got what was coming to
her. That hair scene was just too funny. Dru screaming like a banshee and
Phyllis waving her hair around. It serves Dru right for being a
kleptomaniac. I’m trying to remember if she stole stuff the first time she
showed up on Y&R. I seem to recall she was in trouble for something.
So Cameron Kirsten’s company is being investigated by the SEC. Hmmm … what
better way to disappear then set someone up for your own murder? This is
getting obvious now. The only thing that is difficult to figure out is if it
was by chance that Cameron and Sharon met at the hotel in Denver.
The other obvious storyline is Brittany-kebab. Angelo did it, but did he act
alone?
Kevin being beaten in the jail cell was one brutal scene. The past year or
so I’ve found Y&R to be more like prime time regarding violence. Years ago
it was merely implied, but now it’s getting more graphic. I thought they
would show the beginning of Kevin being punched by the other prisoners then
either go to commercial or go to another scene. When I realized that was not
going to happen, I had to change the channel because my young son was
watching and based on the look on his face, the little he saw upset him. I
think it was partly because he thought Kevin was a baby, the way he was
curled up on his cot, plus the scenes of the little boy crying in the closet
probably confused him as well. Thanks to our satellite dish, I can watch the
show after work, while we’re sitting down to supper. I think I’m going to
have to watch the recorded version after my son has gone to bed now. The
only other soap opera I watch is Coronation Street, so I have no idea if
other soaps are going the same route as Y&R. I understand sex and violence
brings in the viewers, but this last scene wasn’t exactly light afternoon
viewing. It would be great if they did make Y&R a primetime drama – at least
this way if they have another fire scene, they could film outside on the lot
and actually use water!
On to lighter fare: I just have to shake my head at Nick Newman. He finds
out he has a little sister and after the family meeting, all he can talk
about is what’s going to happen to him! Then he has the audacity to try to
blow sunshine up Daddy’s ample wazoo, and when Victor doesn’t change his
mind – he sulks! He’s upset because his father is still angry with him about
being a whistleblower. It’s okay for Little Nicky to have a bad attitude
towards Dad, but does he fully expect to be patted on the head and hear that
all is forgiven? Come on.
