What a fantastic show!!! It was just full of surprises! I guess the first
thing that surprised me was Elizabeth knocking on the inside of the closet
door. I thought she left in Friday's episode, but when Alison locked the
door and said her mother belonged there, I didn't get it. Now I do.
Elizabeth must have gone into the closet by accident. Maybe it's the
bathroom, and it was intentional, but she certainly seemed to be leaving in
an outraged state. In any case, why was Alison able to lock the door from
the outside if it was the closet or bathroom?
I didn't expect to see Jamal, or Casey, for that matter. I guess I should
have, but it never occurred to me that they would be there. It was nice to
see more of the gang getting together to fight for a good cause.
I definitely didn't expect Kevin to seal Ian up inside a room. That was
I wonder why Rafe wanted Caz to be cured first. Maybe he thought it would
keep him from trying to rescue Reese, but I don't think that's it. After
all, they had him shackled pretty well. I wonder whether they knew he
wouldn't put up a fight and thought that maybe he would show Reese that it
wasn't a bad thing. I don't know. I'm just speculating here. When Caleb died
(before Tess brought him back), Caz liked the feeling that came over him. He
thought it felt good, like Christmas. That really upset Reese. At the time,
I wondered whether Caz had been turned at Christmas, and I guess that's
still a possibility, but now I'm thinking that he was a happy person as a
human and that it felt good to be that way again. We'll see how he feels in
tomorrow's episode, after he gets out of the water.
Jack seriously needs a reality check. I know that he always feels as if
he has to be the knight in shining armor who rescues the damsel in distress,
Feeding is always so erotic and sexual for PC vamps. How did Rafe expect
Ian to bleed Joshua dry, anyway? I know that Caleb bit Jack, but that's the
only time I remember in which a vamp sired someone of the same gender.
I had to laugh at Joshua today. He was so intent on listening to what was
happening at the hot spring that he had no clue what was going on around
him. Ian was stalking him, and then Kevin stopped that before Joshua had any
idea. He just went merrily on his way.
I suspect that Jamal will be the one to figure out that Reese and Alison
are sisters. He has some experience with a vamp who was unable to bite him
because they were blood relatives.
Wow! The "Surrender" finale was packed with action. I loved it from
beginning to end.
It started off with Kevin singing, "Cement is thick, and brick by brick,
I'm bricking up a jerk." I thought that was hilarious. Then when he sang (to
the tune of "Danny Boy") "O, Danny's da, the bricks, the bricks are
walling," I almost couldn't stop laughing, but I had to so that I would hear
what he did next. Kevin was really in rare form today. His stake was a
scream! I loved the look on his face when he was on the floor and Ian was
raging around. While Ian was still inside the wall, I wondered whether he
would end up biting Kevin, but I was relieved that he didn't. Since I knew
Joshua's plans, I knew that they wouldn't be able to throw Kevin into the
healing pool. Too bad he didn't fall in when he was there. On the other
hand, Kevin as a vampire would be a fantastic match for Joshua.
The look on Alison's face when she heard that Jack likes Reese was
absolutely priceless. Jack needs to get over his need to take care of Reese.
I'm sick of her whining, and it's only going to get worse. I can't believe
she thinks Jack is responsible for her inability to bite Alison. I wish she
had thought of another reason, just so that she and Alison weren't thinking
along the same lines. Oh, well. C'est la vie.
Caz was so cute today! I knew he would be happy to be human again. I just
knew it! He was cracking me up when he ran over to Lucy. Everyone was
worried about what he was going to do to her, but then he gave her that big
bear hug and started thanking everybody. I really hope he sticks around!
Joshua's reference to "The Wizard of Oz" was amusing, but Rafe's ELO
reference was hilarious. He called the band the "Electric Nightmare
Orchestra." For those who don't know what I'm talking about, ELO was the
Electric Light Orchestra.
Caleb's arrival at the hot spring was great. It was absolutely one
of his best fang-baring poses. It was fun seeing him try to break Lucy's
neck. He knew he couldn't bite her, so he did what he could. I also
thoroughly enjoyed his shout when he surfaced.
Casey's prayer was classic, and I loved Jamal's reaction. He just
couldn't keep from laughing--twice. I don't blame him.
I've been wondering why Joshua thought he'd be the last
vampire standing. I didn't know whether he knew about Ian's status, but of
course if he did, he assumed that he would die in the explosion. Does
Caleb even know about Ian? He's never mentioned it, but it seems to me
that he would have to know. Anyway, today Joshua actually told
Livvie that they are the last two of their kind on earth. Are they saying
that the Morley family--admittedly vampire royalty--was the only clan of
vampires in the world? Are they trying to say that Caleb never sired
anyone else, or if so, that they were all killed? I guess this confirms
that they killed poor Mick.
Caz is a real hoot to watch. He kept having to break up
the catfight, and the looks he gave both Alison and Reese were hilarious.
He really shot Reese a look when she talked about Alison having nothing to
do but grieve her dead boyfriend. It just confirmed again that Caz is a
nice guy. I do hope he sticks around.
I wish Ricky had been in on this, but I get the feeling
he'll have to make a choice between Joshua/fame/fun and doing what's
right. I hope he does the right thing, and I hope Casey gets to stay with
him. They're a really cute couple.
Loved when Alison looked toward Reese and told Jack to
get rid of that. Erin and Brian play these antagonistic scenes very
I think Caleb had the best line today, when he said,
"You're a little man, Jack."
Why did that officer spend his time taking Reese's
(false) statement instead of trying to get rescue workers to find the
It was nice to see Alison and Rafe both physically
defending Caleb against Jack. Somebody needs to do something about that
It was nice to see Chris and Colleen. I loved the way
Caleb was glaring at the unit of blood. The poor guy never expected to get
his blood that way.
Joshua is such a lech. I actually hope Livvie wises up
and takes him down.
I had to laugh at Rafe's insistence on guarding Caleb's
room himself. He really thinks he's competent.
I was confused about the letter at first, because I
couldn't imagine why Ian would attach it to Lucy's suitcase. Then I
realized that Mary saw it at the house and put it in the side pocket.
I'm really tired of love scenes between Ian and Lucy. I
don't know how many more of those I can take. And why are they always on
the couch? They're not the only ones who apparently never sleep in bed.
They're just the ones we're seeing nowadays.
Elizabeth was cracking me up. I thought Alison's
reaction was pretty strange, because what annoyed her most was how her
mother managed to get out of the bathroom. She even scowled when she told
Rafe about how she removed the doorknob. What in the world?!? I still
haven't figured out why the bathroom door has a lock on the outside.
I enjoyed the scene between Alison and Casey. I think
they could be good friends if given the chance. Alison needs some female
friends closer to her own age. I'd like to see Casey get to stay with
Ricky, and then they could hang around with Rafe, Alison, Jamal, and Caz.
I really want Caz to stick around.
Colleen sure did get mad at Rafe! I don't think I've
never seen her so stern before.
How can they get away with holding Caleb there against
his will? He's not under arrest, yet the hospital staff has no problem
following Rafe's orders about keeping him there.
Yes! Showdown with Kevin and Joshua on the way. Earlier
this week I said I would like to see them as mortal enemies. Kevin should
get Livvie to turn him, so that he can deal with Joshua better. If he
became a vampire and kept his current personality, Joshua wouldn't
stand a chance!
