Shirley's Opinion #58
4/5 - 4/9/04
I hope I don't jinx things with this Opinion, but I really
believe things are moving along better now. I know, we've thought
that before, only to be tossed back on the same old stalled
merry-go-round, but it just feels different this time. Let me see if
I can explain why I feel that way.
First of all, we seem to be coming to a point where Julian
and Eve's story will play itself out. They are getting closer to
finding out Chad is their son, and TC may be about to discover they have
feelings for each other. I say "may be" because we all
know how these "gotcha!" moments have turned out in the past.
TC walks in the door, sees Julian and Eve in a compromising
position, starts beating the bejeebers out of Julian, and then Eve comes
up with a supposedly plausible explanation of what was "really"
going on. Been there, done that. But this time it really seems
possible that he will actually figure it out. I sure hope so. I
am tired of all this. I want Eve and Julian to be outed, whether
they will actually end up together or not (although in my heart-of-hearts,
I hope they will) and get the truth about Chad out as soon as possible.
I mean, I really can't take any more love scenes between him and
Whitney. And I can't take any more of all Eve's friends suffering
because of her. Outing them can start the process of letting all the
secrets out of the bag, which can only be a good thing.
Next, it seems Luis is on the verge of finding out what
Alistair has done to Sheridan over the years, as well as what he's done to
others. He has managed to get into the safe where Al keeps all his
secrets, and he's gotten his hands on some cd's, so maybe it is going to
be Judgement Day for Alistair Crane, finally. I have to admit, I am
thinking it is quite possible that Al knew what Luis was up to and played
the old bait-and-switch game on him. I mean, it is what usually
happens on this show, right? But somehow, this time it seems more
possible that Luis actually got some real evidence on the old coot. And
if at least some of the secrets come out, it does set up the "Who
murdered Alistair Crane?" mystery that I so hope is coming. Not
that I think Al will actually be killed. No, it will probably be
another one like Julian's murder, and Al will be running around as Charlie
again, pulling strings in the background or something, but it still has
the potential to be a great plot, in my opinion.
Friday we saw Theresa morph back into the old Theresa,
with a twist. She is on the warpath, wanting revenge against Gwen,
Rebecca, and even Ethan, and I for one can't wait to see what she is going
to do. Now, I know that she always seems to get herself into more
trouble by trying to fight back, but I think this time might be different.
This time she has evil intent behind her and that might be just the
added ingredient she needs to be able to come up with very devious plans
and then carry them out. I am hoping she will somehow end up being
the surrogate that is implanted with Gwethan's baby so she can hold it
hostage until she gets Little Ethan back. That would be so awesome,
in my opinion. I know it's been done before, but I think it could be
done very well on this show, and it would be fitting revenge against the
two women who have made Theresa's life miserable for so long now. True,
she has done her share to Gwen over the years, but everything she did was
done out of love for Ethan, misguided as that may be, while the things
Rebecca and Gwen have done to her and her family have just been done out
of hate and revenge. Now, hopefully, it's Theresa's turn. And
if she lives up to past performances, now that she is out for blood, this
could turn out to be a really interesting turn of events. I
can't wait to see what happens with this story.
I haven't seen anything of Grace and Sam lately, but I
hear she is going to grow some super powers soon, after seeing Ivy and Sam
together. Now, I still think she has no right to be upset that he
has moved on, and as long as she still doesn't know that Ivy is behind
David and all that happened she can't blame her, either, but just the fact
that milque-toast Grace might actually start to stand up for herself, and
even to fight dirty.....well, it really makes me want to see what's going
to happen. If what I've heard is true, this means this story is
starting to move, also, and as I said, that can only be good. I am
really tired of all the evil people on this show winning all the time, and
it's about time some of the good guys start coming out on top for once.
Oh, I know they won't stay there forever, but just
having them win, even if it is only for a while, would be a nice change of
And if Sheridan is beginning to remember Luis, as it looks
like she is, that would be another treat for the fans. I really hate
seeing her with Antonio, seeing his smug looks, hearing him dig it in by
constantly saying "my waaf" when speaking of Sheridan in front
of Luis. Like yesterday, when he couldn't say "Sheridan
and I are going home." Oh, no. He had to say "I'm
going home with my waaf", with a smirky look Luis' way. UGH!
And just an aside here - what's up with his hair? Who sold him
on the fallacy that the Denny Dimwit look is back in? If I were
Sheridan, I'd make him wear a hat. LOL!!
Well, those are my thoughts on the way the show is going
now. At least some of them. As I said, I feel we are actually
moving faster now, heading toward some long-awaited answers and reunions
of characters too long kept apart. I only hope I'm right and we
won't be disappointed again.
