Mel: Well, does she love Bill?

Remy: No.

Mel: What, it's the money?

Remy: It's the baby.

Mel: Oh, of course.

Remy: She got in over her head, that's all.

Mel: So did you.

Remy: Listen, you can't pick how and when you fall in love, and you can't plan it either. I know you and Mom and Dad are like, this is just another Remy screw up, but I'm glad I love Ava. It feels good. You know what I'm saying.

Mel: I wish I did.

Alan: Look, I'm fine, Elizabeth.

Lizzie: All right. Then we'll let the doctors decide that, okay?

Alan: No more doctors.

Lizzie: What if you hit your head?

Bill: It can only be an improvement, really.

Remy: No. You are the least pathetic person I know. And you got married to Rick, and you guys have a daughter together. How can you possibly tell me you've never been in love?

Mel: You know, I've, never said this out loud before, but... I mean, you know Rick and me, our situation. He was sick when we got together, and everything was really big and dramatic, and I cared about him, you know. I wanted to save him.

Remy: Paging Dr. Mel.

Mel: Exactly. And, um, we got married for a lot of reasons, but I don't think it was because either of us was in love. And then when I got a divorce, I, um... my pride was hurt, you know. And I hated that I failed. But I can't say I lost the love of my life. Rick and I-- we love our daughter, you know, and... we're becoming friends again, but... I have never let myself fall in love, ever. Sounds crazy, right? I mean, I don't know if it's, if it's because Mom and Dad were so perfect, and I thought it had to be that way.

Remy: You're always trying to do the right thing, Mel.

Mel: Or maybe I just do things that I know I'm going to be good at.

Remy: Wait, so... are you telling me I've done something you've never done?

Mel: Stop. ( Laughs ) Listen, you took a risk. You know? I mean, so what, maybe you made a fool out of yourself, but who cares? You know, when I look at you, and I see how your face lights up when you mention Ava’s name, I, I'm jealous, you know. I want that.

Remy: Wow. You deserve to fall in love, Mel.

Mel: And you deserve to be happy, Rem.

Remy: We both do.
