The fact is, I don't know whether it was Coop or whether it was the idea of Coop that I was in love with. And now, I look at him and I think of all of the months that I chased him, and I don't know how I'm meant to feel good about myself.

Ashlee: Mom, you did what you could. You tried your best. But with Coop, it's just different. I feel like it's forced, or something. And it just feels weird.

Doris: You know what, I wouldn't have given to have someone love me the way Coop loves you. I mean, someone to think the world of me.

Ashlee: I know. I know. We're lucky. We're really lucky. We... we're best friends, and we love each other so much. Things are just... I don't know.

Doris: You know, when you were going into surgery, I saw something in him. I mean, I saw a commitment, and I think he's in it for the long haul. Maybe he's not the one, but... maybe...

Ashlee: You know that I, um, am really sorry, right?

Coop: Are you? Are you really sorry, Ashlee?

Ashlee: Of course. You know, my mom said to me today, don't ruin the best thing that has ever happened to you.

Coop: Yeah, well, maybe we're right, but, um, just not right now.
