General Hospital: Night Shift Character Descriptions

Toussaint Dubois (Billy Dee Williams)

This is the official description: "World-weary hospital janitor haunted by his past. A hospital worker with a haunted past. Toussaint's successes and failures impact the wisdom he passes on to various members of the hospital staff who face their own pitfalls. He teaches everyone to dream big even if his own dreams passed him by." 

He seemed very wise as he helps out the young doctors and nurses around the hospital with elevator buttons and such.  He may be the mysterious whistler that Patrick hears in the first episode. He is hired as an orderly in season two.

Toussaint was formerly in an old famous band The Saints. Epiphany recognizes him when she hears him singing. They become involved for a while. He reveals that he has a son, too.

Eventually, Toussaint leaves town to tour with his old group. 

He re-appeared later on General Hospital as a security guard on July 2nd when Robin asked him to help her solve the mystery of Brianna's murder. She thought the mayor had killed his girlfriend, but she realizes that it was probably his wife, Andrea. Andrea recognizes Toussaint from his singing days; he signs an autograph for her.
