On Saturday, May 6, 2017 I attended my second GH fan event of the year. This
one was held in Philadelphia, PA and all proceeds benefited The Sandy Rollman
Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Just like other GH Fantasy events, there were three
different type of "tiers" for the tickets you could buy. "Teal" included a meet and greet (photos and autographs) and the show.
"VIP" included the show
and one group photo, no autographs. And "Show Only" included just the show. Like
always, I chose "Teal."
The Stars with Nikky
This event had four actors, Donnell Turner (Curtis Ashford), Robert Palmer
Watkins (Dillon Quartermaine), Maura West (Ava Jerome), and Wil deVry (Julian
The room was split in half and two actors went to each corner. The first
actor I met was Donnell. I had never met him before. He said "Hello, Beautiful"
and gave me a big hug. I had him sign my People General Hospital 50th
Anniversary magazine. When it was time for the picture, he wrapped his arms
around my waist so of course I did the same!
Next up was Rob. His face lit up when he saw me, and I got a big hug. We
chatted a bit, I told him Iíd be at GHFCW, and I was going to Bingo. I had him
sign my Shutterfly book from the last time I saw him (which was in August in New
York), and he couldnít believe that was the last time we saw each other. He
thought it was longer than it was. I also had him sign a picture from a magazine
and my 2017 calendar. We got a real pic, and I put my arms around his waist and
also a selfie. I got another hug before leaving him to head to the next actor.
Next up was Maura. I told her my nickname is Kiki. She was very nice. I got a
pic with her and Wil and just her. I had her sign my People magazine. She was
looking at it and she, Wil and I got to talking about (Linda) Elena Tovar
(ex-Rosalie Martinez). We were discussing what name she goes by, that she just
disappeared from GH that how we saw her in a T-Mobile commercial. I had Wil sign
2 Shutterfly books, one from GHFCW 2016 and one that I somehow missed before. I
also had him sign my 2017 calendar. We were discussing which calendar it was
(2017 or 2018) because there were 2018 calendars for sale and someone somehow
got a 2017, and we were confusing each other and it was funny. Wil remembered me
from Twitter. As always I put my head on his shoulder, and I also put my arms
around his waist for a picture. Maura yelled "Bye, Kiki" as I left.
Donnell Turner (Curtis)
Once the meet and greet was over, there was a short break before the Q&A. Rob
was the MC, and he did a terrific job.
There were many thanks from fans (some cancer survivors) for the actors doing
this event, because it supports ovarian cancer research.
Just a few of the questions:
Was there any storyline you weren't a part of that you wish you were?
Maura answered Luke and Laura.
Wil said Morgan and Ava love scenes, to the crowd howling with laughter.
Rob wishes they would bring Dillon's dad back, Paul Hornsby, played by
For Maura, what is Ava's connection to Scotty? Scotty is Ava's sounding
board. You can't have a villain without a friend or a sounding board, or you'll
never know the villain's point of view. Maura had praise for Kin (Shriner, who
plays Scotty Baldwin). She likes that Ava and Scotty are friends, and that many
women have male friends.
Donnell Turner (Curtis), Wil Devry (Julian), & Maura West
How much real alcohol are in the drinks? The beer is non-alcohol beer.
For Maura, will she ever do an act at the Nurses' Ball? Maura wants to.
What was the live show like? Maura wasn't in it. Wil thought it was awesome
and loved it. He said Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas Cassadine) was the only one
who didn't like it. He was nervous. Wil said you were able to see everyone's set
around the sound stage. The set currently being shot would be lit up. He said he
was able to watch Carlos (Rivera, played by Jeffrey Vincent Parise) get shot.
The fake blood shot up in Anna's (Devane, played by Finola Hughes) face, and she
didn't even bat an eye.
Is Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) is coming back? They all wish he would.
Wil Devry (Julian)

Do you ever watch yourselves and are you critical of yourselves?
Rob said yes and yes, he is more critical of himself than anyone else.
Maura thinks it's irresponsible to not watch, at least check in.
Donnell said he did a few episodes of "2 Broke Girls" (in 2012) and he was
posting for everyone to watch. He said he did terrible. But now he doesn't mind
Wil likes to watch his costars especially ones he doesn't see much.
For Maura, who was better Sonny or Morgan? Maura replied she didn't actually
sleep with either of them! Maura thinks that Ava would say Morgan because that
Maura West (Ava)
How did you feel on the first day?
Wil said apparently he was a ****. He was nervous.
Donnell said he was supposed to be a scrubby guy and he showed up groomed.
Rebecca (Budig, Hayden Barnes) was supposed to have a line something to the
effect of he looked like *** but said she wasn't saying it because he looked
nice. So the first few days were crafting of who Curtis would be.
Rob's first days were with Jane Elliot (ex-Tracy Quartermaine) and Anthony
Geary (ex-Luke Spencer). He had no idea who they were so, he wasn't nervous. They
were very nice and made him feel very comfortable.
Rob Watkins (Dillon)
Once the Q&A was over, Robin Cohen, the CEO and Co-Founder of the Sandy
Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation joined the stars on stage to present a check
for $50,000.00 (the proceeds of the event) to the Fox Chase Cancer Center. While
itís always fun to go to a soap event, it makes it ten times better when you
know your attendance is helping a worthwhile cause!
