When Will it
Jake is turning one-year-old in
the next few weeks, and his paternity is still a secret, isnít it?
Almost half of the town knows that Jacob Martin Spencer is, by birthright, Jacob Martin Morgan. Adding insult to injury, the same number of
PC citizens know that Jason and Elizabeth are in love and desperately
want their family whole. So my question to the powers that be is when
will it end?
If Jakeís paternity was meant
to remain a secret, no one would know about it. It would be a secret
between two people (possibly three) and only two people (possibly
three). There would be no angst or second guessing. For example, when
Alexis was pregnant with Kristina, only two people knew the truth,
Alexis and Ned (and later on, Carly). The secret was practically buried
and only became a front-burner story when Kristina needed a transplant.
If Kristina wasnít ill, it would be safe to say the likelihood of Sonny
finding out the truth would have been minuscule.
Another example would be
Michaelís paternity secret. Only three people knew the truth, Carly,
Jason and Robin. The truth wasnít revealed until Robin told AJ that he
was the father. If Robin kept silent about Michael, there is a good
chance that AJ would have never known that he fathered a child.
Of course, these examples donít
actually have the father privy to the truth. That is where Jakeís
paternity secret differs from the rest. Jason knows that heís the father,
and he chooses, along with Elizabeth, to keep it a secret. Yet, that
little tidbit doesnít change the recycled storyline per se, it just adds
another dimension to it. Which brings me to my point. If the secret was
meant to remain a secret, Jason wouldnít know it. What would be the
point to that? Knowing that heís a father to a son heíll never raise.
Donít get me wrong, I love the
fact that Jason is the father (even in secret) to Elizabethís baby. As
a true Liason fan, I couldnít have asked for a better storyline,
especially one that bonds Elizabeth and Jason for the rest of their
lives. My only grievance is that itís been over a year, and the paternity
storyline still exists. My patience is running thin, and Iím a very
patient person. Iíve waited over 8 years for Jason and Elizabeth to be
given a proper storyline. Apparently, the only way they will get the
storyline they deserve is to have the truth be revealed about Jake.
Once that is done, the Morgan family will be united and this storyline
will finally be over.
