G.H. Commentary by
Port Charles’ Town Crier
Amidst the mediocre storylines and the dismal cast of characters, there’s
one shining star. It might surprise you to know that he’s an incidental
character, who’s mostly brawny yet handsome
background. Care to guess?
In case you were not able to do so, the “shining star” is Max. He’s been
Sonny’s bodyguard for years and during the Sonny and Emily story arc, he
became his confidant as well. He was the only one who knew about their
secret trysts and ran interference for them whenever he could. I couldn’t
stop laughing when he threw himself down the stairs to prevent Jason from
finding the star-cross lovers.
Comedy certainly ensued when Max was forced to do Sonny’s bidding when it
came to Carly. Over time, it has been proven that Max is no match for
Carly. Sure he keeps up a good front, but given time, he cracks, confessing
all to Carly.
Now, he’s seeing Dr. Laney Winters, a psychiatrist, to get over his love for
Carly. His love has caused him to do un-Max like things. Such as,
professing his love of Carly to Jason then getting drunk, while still on
duty. Not to mention, his crazy fantasies of him and Carly.
It has been a real joy to watch this character come to life. Especially,
since they gave him a brother. You have Max complaining to Milo about his
Carly issues and having Milo squeal to Sonny.
In the middle of this on-going mundane mob war storyline, Max has brought
the comedic relief that this story so desperately needed, which was not an
easy task. Therefore, I have to give Max the credit that he so deserves, by
distinguishing him as my “shining star.”
