Giving the Term Young Mom a Whole New Meaning
Doesn't it seem that all of the women on soaps have children at the
mere age of 14? There barely seems to be an age gap between the mother and child
duo. Let's take a look at General Hospital for a minute. We know that Olivia
Falconeri had her son Dante at a young age..but just how young? Dominic
Zamprogna was actually born in 1979 while Lisa Lo Cicero was born in 1970.
Basically, she would've had to have had him at 9 years old! It is just not
possible. Why don't soaps ever cast actors in age-appropriate roles?
While definitely a welcomed addition, William DeVry had been cast
to play Julian Jerome, Samantha Morgan's father. The two look more like they
should be lovers as opposed to father and daughter. William will actually be
turning 46 this year. Kelly Monaco, who plays Samantha Morgan, turns 38. I guess
Julian had Samantha when he was 8!!!
At least Jaclyn Zeman and Laura Wright have a 17-year-age gap
between them, making it possible for the two to be mother and daughter. Roger
Howarth, who plays Franco, was born in 1968 while Kin Shriner, aka Scott Baldwin
was born in 1953. I guess this father/son relationship is "possible," making
Scott 15 years old when he fathered Franco. Does casting think that soap
watchers don't notice that there is not much discrepancy between mother/and
child? I get that soaps are all about beautiful faces, but can't they find
actors/actresses who are age appropriate for these roles? I guess this makes
Molly Lansing-Davis long overdue for a child!!!
