Marlena: You know... I spoke to Gabi yesterday at-- at the baby's first birthday party. She tried very hard to convince me that everything was going to be just fine... that Nick just didn't see any way that they could all get along, any way they could all be a family for the baby.

Hope: And she was so desperate to protect that family that she put three bullets in Nick.

Gabi: For me, with men, it always felt like I was asking them to give me more than they were willing to give... except Nick. He loved me as much as I loved him. I always felt like I was the center of his universe. I felt safe and protected. But then...

Marlena: Then what?

Gabi: Then I got pregnant with Will's baby, and... everything changed. I just... I just felt like he was trying to control every day of my life. And then Arianna was born, and... that was the day that he told me about all the horrible things that had happened to him in prison and that he was sorry for hurting me, and I thought he had changed.

Marlena: But he hadn't.

Gabi: No. He went behind my back, and he got that modeling contract for me in New York, but that's because he wanted to take me and my baby away from everyone who loved us. But then I found out the truth, and I told him I wouldn't go with him. And he snapped.

Marlena: What do you mean "he snapped"? Gabi, the police cannot monitor this room. And a psychiatrist-- whatever you tell me is in complete confidence. Whatever you tell me will stay between us. Okay?
