Stephanie: (having previously caught Philip and Melanie making out on the kitchen table and now has come back to confront Melanie) A sandwich? You were making a sandwich on that table? Did you hose it down first? Blech.

Melanie: (EJ demands that Melanie sign contracts he’s drawn up for the fuel project) Now's not really a good time for me, E.J.

E.J.: I don't particularly care about that. Sign.

Melanie: I don't really like your tone.

E.J.: Well, I don't particularly care about that, either. Sign.

Melanie: (Melanie is hesitant to sign because she only offered the project to EJ to make Philip jealous) Look, I -- I have to think about this.

E.J.: The time for thinking, Miss Layton, is rather over. You may be able to play your little games with Philip Kiriakis and that lady right there, but you don't play games with me, not unless you wish to lose -- I believe the expression is "big time."

Melanie: You know what i love -- and I mean love -- about men? They push you around and make sure you do what they want when they want it, or you're gonna be in big trouble. But then [Clears throat] Once you do it, they get all protective over you, like they're not so bad, after all. It's like, um... it's like leaving an extra $20 on the nightstand. You know what I mean?

E.J.: I think you're a little young to be that cynical.

Melanie: Aha. You said I was cynical, not wrong.

E.J.: Touché.

E.J.: (after having to deal with Melanie) [Sighs] Sydney, I'm not letting you out of the house until you're 40.

Melanie: You can hate me. That's fine. That's fine.

Stephanie: Glad to have your permission.
