2006 Our Opinion!

My Opinion by Jamison
1/19/06

All right.  I’m a guy, but this week had me so close to tears with almost every passing minute.  But of course, one storyline captivated me so much than others.  Which one?  The same one as last week, of course.

Shawn/Belle/Philip/Mimi: Just like I thought, Claire’s liver donor has been found — the now-late Zack Brady.  Belle and Philip weren’t that pleased to find that out.  I don’t know why Philip’s that upset to hear that Zack is dead.  He is his uncle, I know, but did you see him in one scene with Zack while he was still alive?  When Jay or Kyle was playing Philip?  I don’t think so.  This thing I know is going to bring Shawn and Belle back together.  And seeing their scenes this week, I finally saw what I was looking for — chemistry between Jason Cook (Shawn) and Martha Madison (Belle).  If TPTB are trying to put them back together, then I’m very close to saying, “Do it.”

John/Marlena/Alex: Well, I was right in my guess — Alex and Marlena really were a couple back during their medical school days, and Lois was the jealous other woman in love with Alex.  And she really did develop this “if I can’t have him, no one can” complex that made her try to off both of them.  This storyline — mostly Lois’s multiple attempts on Alex’s and Marlena’s lives — was pretty preposterous, considering they’re trying to make Alex out to be the good guy in order to save his character.  Too little, too late.  I fast-forwarded everything.

Austin/Sami/Lucas/Carrie: Despite not being on that often this week, I liked the scenes between Austin and Carrie and Sami and Lucas.  As you know, I started watching DAYS on a full-time basis in late 2002, which was nearly three years after Carrie’s departure and just six months after Austin’s departure.  So I never knew that they had such chemistry.  Not until this week, that is.  I definitely felt the chemistry as they continued to reconnect after being apart for six years.  What I just found out, though, is that they really are getting together — plans for an Austin/Nicole pairing have officially been scrapped because Arianne Zuker (Nicole) decided not to renew her contract with the show and will be leaving soon.  Which is . . . okay, I guess.  Anyway, with Austin and Carrie getting back together, I guess they can put all bad things that happened between in the past behind them, right?  Wrong.  Despite the hot sleepwalking and nearly-having-sex-while-asleep scenes between Sami and Lucas in which they very well could’ve reconciled, the two of them still plan to bag Austin and Carrie when Carrie finds out Austin took over her company.

Frankie/Jennifer: While I saw Jennifer throughout the week during the scenes at the hospital, I only saw Frankie once this week — finding and watching the DVD Jack left him.  But I didn’t really pay attention to it all that much because, again, the story has become too farfetched for me.  So, moving on.

Bo/Hope/Max/Chelsea: One of the saddest things ever happened this week.  Zack died.  And Bo and Hope were devastated.  Oh, my God, that was some awe-inspiring acting by Kristian Alfonso (Hope), who portrayed a mother losing a young child just beautifully.  It’s a reality that happens almost every day, and Kristian definitely knew that.  Her performance nearly brought tears to my eyes, and I commend her for that.  She deserves an Emmy this year, or, at the very least, a nomination for one.  If she doesn’t get one, it’ll be an insult to the entire show.  I mean, just think of her acting when Hope learns not only that Chelsea could’ve hit Zack while driving Bo’s SUV, but that Bo practically put her back on the road!  Anyway . . . it was even more devastating for Bo and Hope to give up Zack’s organs.  But his liver did manage to save his baby niece, Claire (although the Bradys don’t know that yet).  But they will soon.  Hopefully.

And that’s just what’s on my mind!
