2005 Our Opinion!

My Opinion by Jamison
12/26/05

Once again, I’m late, and I’m so sorry for it.  But the good news is that finals are fast approaching, so as soon as they’re done, I’ll be fully able to write my columns on time.  That said, let’s begin with last week’s happenings.

Shawn/Belle/Philip/Mimi/Kate: We haven’t had all that much mobility from this storyline.  Claire’s still sick, Belle’s still whining, Philip’s still trying to reassure while crying in secret, and Shawn’s being there to comfort Belle.  The only thing even slightly interesting here was that Mimi seemed to catch on to Kate, knowing something was up with the way Kate was supporting her and Shawn.  She forgot all about it when Kate offered her Belle’s job at Basic Black, but oh, well.  Meanwhile, Kate, unable to stop being a meddling mom for five minutes, decides that since she doesn’t want Philip and Belle’s marriage ruined by the revelation that Shawn is the father of Claire, she needs to make sure Philip raises Shawn’s baby without him ever knowing it and attempts to change Shawn’s medical records to make it seem like he’s not Claire’s father.  I know Kate says she’s doing this for Philip, but I don’t believe that’s entirely true.  I think she’s doing it more for herself.  She clearly hates Shawn and wants to hurt him in the worst possible way without him even knowing how he was hurt.  And that’s just what she nearly did.  Fortunately for us, a security guard caught her before she could do much damage.  Now, we’re left with the cliffhanger of whom was called in to see her.

John/Marlena/Alex: Not much to see on this front.  Alex pretty much demanded that John stop calling Marlena “Doc” now that she’s back with him again.  I was with John that he shouldn’t have to stop doing that, seeing as how he’s not the only one who calls her that.  Again, other than that, I didn’t see much mobility in this storyline this week.

Austin/Sami/Lucas/Carrie/Nicole: First of all, I was surprised Sami even cared about Jack’s “death,” considering all she cares about are Will and herself.  Now, getting on the topice, as far as the first four characters named in bold are concerned, every event that occurred with them this week led me to believe that DAYS is doing just what most fans don’t want them to do — they are planning a redux of the Sami/Austin/Carrie/Lucas quadrangle, this time with Nicole thrown in possibly for good measure since she, too, is interested in Austin.  But fear not — Ken Corday (I think) said that the goal of the redux is to not only bring about Austin and Carrie’s reunion, but also Lucas and Sami’s reunion.  Nicole?  Well, she’ll return to her old, evil self after all is said and done.

Jennifer/Frankie: Jennifer is quite frankly one of the most delusional women I have ever seen so far.  At least, in terms of grieving.  I know, Jack’s really alive, but Jennifer acting so upbeat about it bothered me for some reason.  I don’t know.  Probably because I was expecting her to be grieving again over the loss of her husband.  I guess it makes sense, though, that she still thought he was alive as Jack came back the last two times.  Anyway, all the friends and family who came to the house finally got her to accept the truth, and she unknowing began doing exactly what Jack wanted — getting closer to Frankie.  But all that and her acceptance of his death went away again when she thought she saw him in their garden.  Is that Jack’s ghost?  Or is that Jack pretending to be a ghost?

Bo/Hope: They were fairly boring this week, serving only to be thankful for having each other in their lives.  Well, that’s not true, actually.  Bo at least grew closer to Chelsea after Jack’s “death” reminded her of the Bensons’ deaths.  Hope actually did something realistic this week, taking Zack in for a checkup and a shot and visiting Shawn in the hospital besides.  They had a real conversation about Shawn’s life and Hope seems to have finally accepted that Shawn’s not going back to school (although I agreed with her that he’s making a big mistake).  So maybe she’ll stop nagging him now.

And that’s just what’s on my mind!
