2005 Our Opinion!

Days Opinion by Justin

I want to bring up an issue that was getting under my skin a little bit. I was reading some message boards about Days of our Lives and many people were complaining that daytime shows are not sending the right moral issues. Well, what do you expect from a soap opera. The generalization of a soap opera is that the characters are not in the right relationships nor to they ever do the right thing at first. We expect that the characters will be separated for a while and then have this magical and joyous reunion that will make us weep with happiness.

The message in particular that I was reading was about Chloe and her not telling Brady the truth about being alive. The message said that this was sending the wrong message to the children who are watching the show. We all need to be less concerned with television sending the right messages to the viewers and just enjoy the show that we love to watch. Besides, we need to teach our own children wrong from right as well as how to be a moral and ethical individual and not allow television to replace the parental responsibility!!!

Days of our Lives is in no way supposed to be looked at for guidance or what is practical behavior. You do learn some lessons from the show, but it should be viewed only as a television show for entertainment purposes not what to do and not to do.
