My Opinion by
I received an E-mail from Justin last week, saying that he will
no longer be able to write opinion columns for this site. So that
makes me the official opinion writer for this site. At least where
Days of our Lives is concerned. So enough small talk. Let’s
get right into this week.
Nicole/Chloe/Craig/Nancy: I was so happy to see Kevin
Spirtas back again as Craig. I’ve missed him so much since he left
in 2003. He and Patrika Darbo (Nancy) still have the same great
chemistry they’ve always had. And I loved Chloe’s nightmare
about her face melting in front of Brady and her parents. (Even I
could see that was CGI animation.) I’m glad the powers-that-be were
smart enough to remember that Craig and Nancy have another daughter
(Joy) and have them mention her. But where is she? Why didn’t
they bring her back to Salem, as well? I pretty much laughed
at Nicole’s disgust of how much blood there was during Chloe’s
operation. But I am mad as hell that she didn’t get caught for
“forgetting” to sterilize the equipment. I don’t know why she thinks
she will hold onto Brady this way. Quite the opposite. This whole
fiasco she’s caused will simply make Brady and Chloe’s bond
stronger. It’s as simple as that. However, I have to praise her for
at least being remorseful about what she’s done.
Tony/Bart/Sami/Philip/Shawn/Rex/Brady/Lucas: So the “Four
Musketeers” got ambushed and captured by Marines. So did Sami/Stan.
But fortunately for her, some of Tony’s men had infiltrated the
Marines and helped her escape. I loved seeing Tony crumble when he
thought his plans were ruined. But I was back to being angry at him
again when he found out they (Shawn, Rex, and Brady) escaped the
Marines, thanks in part to Lucas, and was content that his plans
were back on track. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the men got
caught a second time, this time by mercenaries. They reunited
with Philip, who actually seemed to be willing to make inroads with
Shawn. (But for how long?) Sami/Stan took a bullet from Lucas
without knowing it was he and clamored for his head. Imagine the
look on her face when she saw that he was there, as well.
Now things are going to get good.
Mimi/Belle: Like I said last week, I have no sympathy
whatsoever for Mimi. Even less so after the decision she made
this week. She really thinks that by pleading guilty and
going to prison, Rex will never learn about her abortion? Then she
is a silly little woman. Since the abortion storyline began, I think
we all saw the real Mimi Lockhart. She’s nothing but a coward. This
decision of hers proves it in spades. This decision is not only
cowardly, but it’s also completely immature. Who’s to say Rex won’t
visit her in prison and he won’t insist on seeing her no matter how
much she tries not to let him? No matter what happens to her, the
truth will come out, and Rex and Mimi will be through because of the
lies she told him. Belle might as well stop trying to convince the
coward that this isn’t right now that she’s been arrested, because
it’s not going to do her any good.
Jack/Jennifer/Abby: Abby’s birthday party was wonderful and
the scenes were well-written. Seeing the Deveraux Family enjoying a
happy occasion together was pretty much the one bright spot of the
week, so I have nothing to gripe about.
Abe/Lexie/Tek/Celeste: I now know what to say about Abe’s
blindness/impotency storyline. It’s not as good as I’d hoped
it would be. If they were this desperate to give the Carvers a
storyline to please the viewers, they could’ve at least taken
the time to pen out something exceptional and never done before.
Instead, we get Abe wanting a divorce from Lexie just because he is
unable to make love to her. Come on, Abe! Marriage isn’t just about
sex! It’s about love and trust, as well. Those are the two most
important things in a marriage. As long as Abe and Lexie have both
of those, then sex doesn’t necessarily matter. But if Abe is that
desperate to make love to Lexie, there are treatments for his
problem, right? Anyway, Celeste is back! Great! I love Tanya Boyd,
her acting, and especially her accent. Her visions came back
in full force, as well. And I think I know what her visions
regarding Jack and Jennifer are. (Hint: Billy Warlock!) I don’t know
what she sees that is so bad about Tek. I mean, he’s a great man. He
couldn’t possibly do any wrong to anybody. So what could be up with
him? I guess we’ll have to find out. . . .
Bo/Hope/Roman: I wish Hope would stop repeating the same
thing to Bo. It’s not entirely his fault that Shawn is in a war zone
trying to save Philip. Shawn did it all on his own. She should stop
threatening to leave him, also, and just do it. That should
give him a wakeup call. I hate seeing that Hope has been reduced to
this insecure woman and isn’t the same strong woman she was before.
On a side note, I loved Bo and Roman’s reunion, and Peter Reckell
(Bo) did a good job of portraying Bo’s emotions of founding out
about his parents’ “deaths.”
Billie/Chelsea/Kate: So we got some Billie/Kate interaction
this week. Was anyone really surprised that Kate was happy to hear
about Bo and Billie making love and Hope seeing them do it? Not
me. She’s so adamant that Bo and Hope are broken up just so that
Billie can get back with Bo. It’s not gonna happen, Kate. It’s not
gonna happen. And hey! Sounds like Kate is in love with two men. No
surprise to me about that. She fell in love with John, and
now it’s impossible for her to turn her feelings off. You know,
that scenario. As for Chelsea, well, she's finally found out her
parents are dead. Rachel Melvin played off emotions very well. That
was good. What made it even better was seeing Billie console Chelsea
(whom we all know just has to be Georgia). I look forward to
seeing the bond between Billie and Chelsea continue to grow over the
Mickey/Maggie: All I have to say about them is that I
want their situation with Bonnie resolved.
Alice: I’m glad that she was on this week! Frances Reid
(Alice) is as beautiful as always!
Next week, at long last, we hit the climax of the POW storyline.
Sami turns on Tony because he captured Lucas! Plus, all of Salem
finds out Tony’s alive and well! It should make for some
long-awaited good viewing.
And that's just what's on my mind!
