My Opinion by
This was an amazing week, I have to admit! I have so much to say
about it, it's not even funny. I don't even know where to start!
Chloe/Nancy/Nicole: I thought I'd get the boring storylines
out of the way first. I really don't have all that much to say,
except that the look on Nicole's face when the nurse took the files
away before she could switch them was priceless. I'm hoping she doesn't
get away with what she's planning, but it's obvious she probably
Shawn/Rex/Brady/Lucas/Sami/Philip: Another one I thought I'd
get out of the way. All I can say is, this entire storyline is
moronic and stupid. I mean, are we actually supposed to believe
Shawn, Rex, Brady, and Lucas all developed into heroes overnight?
No. They only developed into heroes at James E. Reilly's convenience
instead of taking more time to build the story up. As for Sami and
Philip, it was kind of funny to see Sami/Stan get caught and
imprisoned with Philip. I can't believe those mercenaries didn't
even recognize her/him. Didn't they know Sami/Stan was working for
Tony just like they were?
Belle/Mimi: I don't completely agree with Belle's rant at
John. There are lots of available women, but Kate? I don't really
think so. Belle just doesn't want any woman other than Marlena with
John, and as far as she knows, she's dead. The only reason I
partly agree with her, though, is because of the fact that Marlena
is actually alive. She was right about one thing,
though. Kate would trade Shawn's life for Philip's in a heartbeat.
She doesn't give a rat's behind about Shawn anymore. As for Mimi,
how corny was that message she got from Rex? I can't believe Rex
would prepare something like that for her! Sweet thought, really,
but come on! And Mimi's finally thought about what might happen if
Kate found out about her abortion. Yeah, I'd probably be scared,
too, knowing everything Kate's capable of.
Bo/Billie: This is the last storyline I wanted to get out of
the way before getting to the good ones. I don't like the way the
character of Billie Reed is being written. They've made her so
desperate to find her daughter and become a mother that they've made
her desperation completely cloud her judgment. Plus, she uses her
daughter, who may not even exist (we all know she does,
though), to keep Bo from doing the right thing. Don't get me wrong.
I thought I saw the old Bo finally returning. You know, the Bo who's
more devoted to his wife and sons and has better judgment. But he
let Billie pretty much goad him into searching for Georgia with her
again. The writers haven't done much justice for the
character of Bo Brady, either. And now look at them. They are
trapped in a pit now. This is not making for a good story. The only
silver lining for this is that we at least have good actors playing
out the storyline. If we had bad ones, I'd be fast-forwarding
through these scenes indefinitely.
Abe/Lexie: I included them because I forgot to last week. All
I can say is that's it evident their marriage is strained. Probably
because Abe's sexual performance has been seriously affected.
John/Marlena/Roman/Kate: Finally, on to the storylines I
loved this week. I have no idea why Roman thought that keeping his
affair with Marlena a secret wouldn't hurt anybody. Hello, Roman!
This is Salem! All secrets come out eventually! Although
since Reilly's the writer, it could take forever. I was also
pretty frustrated with the frequent near-misses we saw. I mean, come
on! They thought we'd be able to wait for their reunions another
day? No way! But the moment I saw John turn around and see Marlena,
I knew it was finally happening. The look on Kate's face when she
saw Marlena was priceless, knowing she'd lost John. But her reunion
with Roman was beautiful. Shame they treated it like it wasn't as
important as John and Marlena's reunion. Oh, and I liked seeing the
look on Kate's face when she found out Cassie is alive, too. And
speaking of Cassie, I would've loved to see her reunite with Grandpa
Shawn. After all, he never got to talk to her after finding out she
was his granddaughter before she was "murdered." I would've loved to
Mickey/Maggie: It was great seeing them both again. Mickey's
reunion with Jack didn't do that much for me, but Maggie's
reunion with Jack was very well played out. My only gripe about
them, even though it was never addressed, is that I'm frustrated
with and angry at Mickey because I don't believe for one minute
that it'd take, at this point, almost six months to choose which
woman he wants to be with. The character of Mickey Horton has become
as dumb as a stump, and I won't stand for it any longer.
Jack/Jennifer/Abby/Patrick/Hope: Jack and Jennifer's reunion
was the most beautiful one of all. I loved the way Matthew Ashford
(Jack) and Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) played it out. Kudos to Ashley
Benson (Abby), as well. Everything in those scenes was so well done.
Jack bringing in Abby's birthday cake was a nice touch, too. Now,
the icing on the cake (not the birthday cake, of course) was Mickey
bringing in Jack, Jr., to complete the little tableau. Seeing the
entire Deveraux family there together got me all emotional and
wanting to cry. But I couldn't, for some reason. And that reason was
what he did later. I didn't like seeing him attack Patrick at all.
Granted, we all know he has a better reason for not trusting him.
It's all thanks to Tony and Bart that he doesn't trust him. But I
hope he doesn't act as malicious toward him as Bo has. That's the
last thing I want to see. I'm so glad Hope and Jennifer defended
Patrick to Jack, though, because even if Patrick really is
still working for the DiMeras, I know he's a good person. Bo and
Jack are just so desperate not to believe that. As for Hope, I
totally back up her anger of Bo leaving with Billie again. He had no
right to leave without telling her after he promised her he
wouldn't. So I'm looking forward to what's going to happen once she
finds him with Billie.
Alison Sweeney returns as Sami on Tuesday, May 3! I'm looking
forward to seeing her back again. And I'm really eager to see how
the John/Marlena/Roman/Kate quadrangle plays out now that they're
