Caroline: I don't understand.

Ridge: I, um... I overheard you and Thomas talking right here. And I’ve always known how my son feels about you. He was in love with you the moment you landed in L.A.

Caroline: That was a really long time ago, and Thomas isn't the same guy he was back then.

Ridge: No, he's not. He's.... He's matured. He's more respectful. Because of Douglas. Becoming a father is the best thing that ever happened to him. And to see you and Thomas, the way you relate to each other, the way you look at each other, and -- and... You know, it's funny. I always thought that Thomas was the one in the middle. But it's not him. It's me. And I also realize that taking Douglas was the wrong thing to do. I hurt Thomas. But more than that... I compromised you. I compromised the one person in this world that I respect more than anybody else. And I can apologize all day to you. It's not gonna make a difference. I got to make it right. I got to make it right for you and Thomas. And I can. I will. I’ll make it right for your little family.
